This is a topic which sometimes comes up in other threads, so I thought it would be good to have a thread dedicated to matches you think are extremely overrated. Everybody has matches which they are not a fan of, despite the majority having the opposite opinion, or even matches you like but people still overrate. Name them all here and give reasons as to why you don't rate them as highly as others do.
Hopefully this will create some good discussion with people defending matches others criticise etc.
I'll start:
Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon - Ladder Match, Wrestlemania X
Sorry Steve for stealing your answer To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. but this is always the one that springs to mind when someone mentions the word overrated in wrestling. Just because it was innovative and influenced modern ladder matches, doesn't mean those ladder matches don't blow it out of the water. If we judged a match on its future influence, then surely no recent matches could be considered great until years down the line. That is not the way a match is judged, we judge on the match itself, and this was unimpressive. I wasn't a fan of the spots and didn't think the match flowed very well. Surprised so many people like it. There have certainly been far greater ladder matches since, because this is average.
Anyone else wanna put forward a match and/or argue with me/back me up on this?

I've mentioned several matches before that I feel no need to go over again, so I'll just say that about half of the supposed five star matches are not that good, at all.

I was kinda relying on you to reel off some matches from the long list of ones you find overrated. >_>
Care to name a couple of supposed 5* matches which arn't that good?
Michaels/Ramon is the most obviously example in my book, but others?

Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar - No Way Out 2004 Bret Hart vs Steve Austin - Wrestlemania 13 Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio - Entire 2005 Mankind vs The Undertaker - King of the Ring 1998 Edge vs The Undertaker - One Night Stand 2008 Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels - Wrestlemania 19 Chris Benoit vs Triple H vs Shawn Michaels - Wrestlemania 20
Red matches are ones I have a hard time even enjoying.
Blue matches are ones I enjoyed, but I think people praise a bit too much.

I'm surprised by the Bret Hart/Austin match. For some reason I assumed you would love that match just like everyone else. I think it is a great match but short of 5*.

HHH vs Shawn Michaels - Hell In A Cell
It's been covered before in one of Jim's reviews, but this was just a snorefest. 50 minutes of slow-paced, repetitive crap. I'd rather have seen these two in twenty minutes with more pace, better spots and less.....long.....agonising.....boring......pauses .
HHH vs Shawn Michaels - Last Man Standing
I bought the Rumble 2004 DVD for the Rumble, and I'd forgotten all about this match. Again, just such a boring match only with ridculous bladejobs and lots of flailing about like a pantomime character. 90% of their matches together recycled the same old shit and this was no different. Crap finish too.
HHH vs Mick Foley - Street Fight
I watched this for the first in five years the other week and it was not what I was expecting at all. I remembered it as some great emotional psycology filled war, instead I got Foley no selling a chairshot in the first five minutes. It felt so low level in the way it was short on actual wrestling and big on weapon shots. I really wanted to get behind Foley but the chairshot no sell and the fact he had to have The Rock come save his ass half way through just turned me off. Not terrible, just average. Their Cell match is soooooo much better.
The Rock vs Mankind - I Quit
There are some stuff to like about this match: the amount of hate, The Rock owning Foley on the mic, the finish, but by and large this is pretty God-awful. I give Foley all the credit in the world for being willing to suffer for his art, but it doesn't make a match good. Countless chairshots, a botched announce table spot and a hilariously bad electricution spot make this pretty bad. Not a patch on the LMS match.
Randy Orton vs The Undertaker - Wrestlemania
People talk this up as one of, if not Undertaker's best Wrestlemania match. Really, the only particularly memorable thing about the match was the crowd heat and that counter.
