I believe a World title should be given to a up and comming main eventer. Someone that is there but needs that extra hmph to take him to that level. You see over the past years though that hasn't been the purpose of many title reigns I.E Triple H's current reign. He's already established he doesn't need the title. But then again CM Punk is a prime example of some body that was gettin there and the World Title just solidified his spot. My main purpose of this thread is to know is how do you decide who you want as world champion? Is it draw power or someone who needs it to solidify themselves as a main eventer? Not only in WWE but in wrestling in general.
There is more than one type of World Champion. Sometimes even when somebody has been on top for a long time, they still produce great matches and draw more than everybody else, and as such are still the right man to hold the title. This also means that they can put somebody new over at the end of their reign.
I like newer guys holding the titles because yeah, it really doesn't help Triple H holding the gold, but it just depends on the situation and who is credible enough. Triple H is stale in my opinion so isn't really the right man to hold it. Then again, when he loses he is going to put someone over even more than they would be if they held the title now, so it isn't all bad.

I agree with your points as they are logical but I like how ROH does there reigns by giving it to a hot rising star whos getting attention and gives them a long ass reign so whoever beats them gets a lot of credibility as he was the one to end such a long epic reign rather then giving the biggest over person on the roster the title. But on SD! it is quite different as WWE needs to build stars. I see HHH only holding the title down while WWE build main eventers such as Vladimir Koslov, Jeff Hardy, Big Show(re-establishing himself) and etc.

I like the ROH way of doing things, especially the length of the reigns which make the belt look very credible and difficult to win, and everyone who wins it looks great. The WWE ones look very cheap sometimes with some of the quick title changes.
Yeah Smackdown needs to build stars, and WWE should always be thinking about how to push the next big thing to the title, but sometimes you give somebody the belt just because at that time, they draw the best, they're good in the ring, on the mic, the full package. Even if they are already former champions, sometimes it is just the right time to give them another reign while they build up somebody else.
I wouldn't like WWE to adopt the full ROH style, with noone ever winning more than one World Title, but I think they could learn from ROH in terms of making the belt itself look prestigious. The most important thing to put over is the belt itself rather than any individual wrestler, because then it is a huge deal when some new guy wins it.
I believe that knowledge was stolen from Punk and Joe's straight shootin DVD, but its appropriate here.
