HBK:
I chose him not because he had the first televised ladder match n wwe tv with razor ramon but because he made how a ladder match was suppose to be done.fast passed and action packed.Every ladder match HBK has entered they have came out better then the one before.Even if he has lost in some.Hbk might not be as crazy in ladder matches as the hardy boys or the dudleys but he paved those guys ways in ladder matches.
hardy boyz:
Probably the most recognized ladder match wrestlers there is.Every match the go through tables and flying of ladders.Matt always plays it safe while jeff attempts to kill himself.i believe if there was no such thing as a ladder match then the hardy boyz would of never made it in the WWE.
Dudleyz:
the dudleys have done certain things in ladder matches which other wrestlers have copyed through out there carrer.Example;Bubba ray Dudley use to put the ladder in between his head and swing around.now look at todays wrestling finlay and jericho have done it recently.Dvon and bubba will ususally also be the ones who would be destryoed by other guys ina tlc,This is what makes them extrme and ladder match innovators.
Edge:
he isnt the most extrme but he is one of the best.he has done many crazy things in ladder matches like jumping of the tope rope into a guy standing on the ladder to hit a spear.recently i think he has definentely got more extreme recently since winning the money in the bank 05.Which is great cause it just makes him better at what he does.
Christian:
Its been a while since he has had a ladder match but when he use to he would always team with edge and just simply pound the opponent. Also he use to do some crazy stuff and had some crazy stuff put on him.
Number 1 has to be Shawn Michaels. He was in the very first 3 ladder matches in the WWE. Unlike the other "Stars" of the ladder match, every one met or surpassed expectations at the time. In addition to that, it was Michaels' spots that paved the road to future spotty ladder matches. While it may seem rather tame by today's standards, the top of the ladder splash at Wrestlemania X, had to be a spot that Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam and others watched over and over. Credit goes to Bret Hart for convincing Vince McMahon to try the ladder match out in 1992, however; Shawn deserves credit for proving to Vince that it was a wise move. Had Vince put anyone else in the ladder match along with Bret and Razor, I don't believe the match would of been as good and wouldn't have created such craving for more.
Everyone else in my mind was nothing more than a poor man's Shawn Michaels. Sure, the spots are cooler looking now, but none of these guys mixed psychology with spots quite the way Shawn did.
Wow...I just made a favorable post about Shawn Michaels. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

why doesnt anyone give Scott Hall any credit, he was in the first and second ladder match you know! ^_^
Uh yeah, HBK. Look at the post above and put my username there.
second and third* The first was a spot-free fun match between Michaels and Bret Hart in 1992.
As we found out in WCW, Scott wasn't the one who made the WM and Summerslam ladder matches great. Scott did however, have great chemistry with Shawn. Looking back at the roster in 1994 and 1995, I don't think there was anyone who was as over or who could on as good of a ladder match as Hall for the faces outside of Bret. So Hall really gets credit for being in the right place and the right time and for not fucking things up.

I must have missed that match. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I don't believe it was ever aired on TV. There's rumors that Bret was pushing for it being booked at Summerslam '92, but Vince decided on Bulldog vs Bret instead. The match was on a few video tapes back in the day (Which is how I knew about it). I believe it's on the recent ladder match DVD to expose it to mainstream fans though.

Watching the first ladder match, I was honestly baffled as to how Michaels looked like a star in anyway. Ok, he hit some decent spots with the ladder, but other than that he played generic heel #23, showed his ass and looked like a total retard at the finish. I don't really like Hall, but he outshined Michaels by alot in that match.
Michaels will be remembered as the innovator of the match, but I doubt I'll ever be able to figure out how.
Who was the innovator? Dan Kroffat (aka Phil LaFon), if it wasn't for him having the first one in Stampede, Bret wouldn't have pitched the idea to Vince.

Second* >_>
And come on, Michaels was the one who really started the whole idea of doing spots with the ladder. Without him, I doubt people like Jeff Hardy would of taken it up a notch. Meanwhile, we would of had more ladder matches like Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho and Triple H vs The Rock (Not that that would be a bad thing). Shawn was an over heel and seeing him get his ass kicked added to the fun of the ladder match.

Yeah, but when people talk about the match, they make it sound like Michaels pulled out some epic performance, when all he did was do some nice spots with a ladder. Ok sure he was the first to do the nice spots with the ladder, but I don't see how that really caught on or how it became such a big deal.
Meh.

It's such a big deal because fans never saw wrestlers dive from the top of ladders. It's similar to Snuka's jumps from the cage against Bob Backlund (The miss) and Don Muraco. Even though by today's standards, it's tame, back then it was such a spectacle. Michaels would inspire many future people to try topping it.
Without Michaels, we wouldn't have ever gotten the TLC matches.
