1986, besides being the birth year for yours truly and the Olsen Twins, it was also the year of the birth of the greatest faction of all time.
This month marks the 22nd Anniversary of the birth of The Four Horsemen. Back in May 1986, Tully Blanchard with manager JJ Dillon, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew and World Champion Ric Flair started their group feud against the likes of Magnum TA, The Rock N Roll Express, Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes. Over the years, many men would join and many would leave. The only constant was Ric Flair and his "Cousin" Arn Anderson. Below is (To the best of my memory) the complete lineup for the Four Horsemen:
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Ole and Arn Anderson with JJ Dillon
---Ole Leaves the company---
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Lex Luger with JJ Dillon
---Luger is kicked out and Windham turns on Luger---
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham with JJ Dillon
---Blanchard, Anderson, Dillon and eventually Windham head to the WWF---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson and Sting
---Sting is kicked out of the Horsemen and Ole acts as the manager---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham and Sid Vicious
---Sid and Flair heads to the WWF---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Paul Roma
---Roma turns on Horsemen and the Horsemen stays inactive for a couple of years---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Brian Pillman and Chris Benoit
---Brian Pillman leaves WCW---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit and Mongo McMichael
---Jeff Jarrett continues to beg to join, with Anderson's injury he's accepted in---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, Mongo McMichael and Jeff Jarrett
---Jeff Jarrett is kicked out quickly---
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit and Mongo McMichael
Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Mongo McMichael and Curt Hennig
---Due to his retirement, Anderson gives Hennig his spot---
---Hennig turns on the Horsemen---
---The Horsemen is disbanded---
Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Mongo McMichael and Dean Malenko with Arn Anderson
---Mongo goes AWOL---
Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko with Arn Anderson
---Horsemen break up for good---
While there has been some duds, The Horsemen's biggest claims to fame have been all the titles that they have held and the quantity of great pure wrestlers (Flair, Arn, Tully, Windham, Benoit, Malenko and Hennig).
