What are your overall thoughts on Triple H's reign over RAW from 2002 to 2005? Do you think he should have been in the title picture as long as he did? Who should have had a longer run with the belt during the time period that won the title and/or who should have won the title that didn't?

I hated Hunter. Unless he was working with a great worker (See: Chris Benoit), his PPV matches were typically dreadful. His promo time resulted in a complete bore and Raw struggled with making and keeping guys as stars. I can understand why he was in the main event picture in 2002. Sure, he wasn't good, but he was one of the few stars Raw had in the absence of Steve Austin. However, it didn't take long to realize that Hunter being on top wasn't for the purpose of making a new star, but rather he was just going to be the dominant star of Raw for years. It shouldn't be a surprise that I much preferred SD's main event scene for most of Hunter's dominance from 2002-2005. Luckily for Hunter, an even worse champion came around midway through Hunter's reign that made me loathe Hunter a little less.

A guy like RVD should have won the belt. He had the popularity to at least try him out during those low key months after Summerslam, but before Royal Rumble. I also feel as if Goldberg's title reign was mishandled by keeping Hunter in the picture. Think of how awesome a Shawn Michaels/Goldberg PPV feud would have been. If this was Triple H of 2000, I would have been completely fine with Hunter controlling Raw. But in 2002-2003, Hunter was at his very worst.

Raw is Hunter in 2002-3 killed my interest in Raw. I had no interest in watching a show built around a guy who was intent on cutting the legs out of anyone and everyone who got even remotely close to being hot. It would have been bearable if he at least made people look good before beating them, but we didn't even get that. No, it was much more important for Hunter to be king and everyone else to look like court jesters.

In all honesty, there's a strong possibility that Miz won't even be working. At best, perhaps Miz can get an US Title shot against Santino. However, if the WWE goes ahead with the idea of Team Long vs Team Ace, I imagine Santino will be on Long's team. So that match would be off for Miz.

To be honest, if Miz gets a match at Mania, it won't be important at all. He's there solely for filler.

Re: Ask Jim - Part 4: The Final Chapter

to be honest, if santino is working a singles match, it's most likely to be against otunga given their clashes in the ace/long feud.

The only reason I asked is because I couldn't work it out myself, they've got truth teaming with kofi so they can't really go back to the truth/mix feud and he hasn't really had any interaction in the gm feud. I think he'll be on the card somehow because they are at least giving him time to hit a promo every week, I figure that's heading somewhere. It will be irrelevant though, whatever he gets booked in.

That's a possibility. So is against Brodus Clay or even Rey Mysterio or Sin Cara if they're able to return before Mania.

I can't really see Otunga vs Santino getting on WM. That's a hell of a lowcard match when some bigger stars probably won't be wrestling. If they do Team Teddy vs Team Ace, I imagine Christian, Del Rio, Henry and Otunga will all be on the heel side against Santino and some babyfaces. I can also see the WWE putting the tag titles on either Truth/Kofi or Swagger/Ziggler so we can get a tag title match against the champions and whichever team didn't win the belts (Colons obviously not on the card). So yeah, Miz is in a position where figuring out a match for him isn't too easy. Perhaps it would have been easier had he had a real feud in 2012. The whole Truth/Miz feud didn't really pan out and Miz has just been killing time in random matches on Raw.

Miz can easily end up like Booker T at WM 21.

Re: Ask Jim - Part 4: The Final Chapter

As you know I'm working through the Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania collection at the moment as part of my personal 'Road to Wrestlemania', but when I'm done with that I want to look into some of the other great mania matches I've missed throughout the years given my late coming to Wrestling and my various breaks from it. I know you love to impart your knowledge and take pity on me, so would it be possible for you to come up with a definitive 'Jim's recommended Wrestlemania matches' list?
