Does that word have any tradition I'm not aware of?
Are you asking about catch? Wrestling in England and Europe in general is or was referred to as catch, for catch as catch can.

    Re: Random Wrestling Talk

Catch, or catch as catch can as Ken has stated, is generally used to describe wrestling from the early 1900's, a style that carried over in Europe and UK and is still used today. Some of it is worked, some isn't, and when it's not worked, it's very similar to Greco-Roman. I couldn't tell you exactly what the difference is, but in Greco-Roman competition, the object is basically to pin down an opponent like you would in amateur wrestling, while in Catch wrestling, submissions are also a usable mode of victory.

Clearly I haven't been talking with the right English people then, thanks for clearing that up.

So I just watched Vader's first Triple Crown championship won over Misawa (really fun match btw), and in the post-match interview he pointed out Johnny Ace standing next to him as being the gaijin booker of All Japan at the time, and MAN he hasn't changed a bit since 1999. Hilarious.

No, he sure hasn't. I can't remember if he was still hardcore rocking the mullet in 1999, but if you go as far back as 1993 when he first broke out with his Dynamic Dude character, he just looks exactly like he does today, with a little bit more hair.

Watched Lou Thesz vs. Wild Bill Longson from 60 years ago. Bill hit Lou with a piledriver mid match to win a fall, but Lou still won the entire thing.

    He's the true superman.

So apparently Meltzer gave 4 3/4 stars to Okada's IGWP title defense against Naito. Given the backlash against Okada winning the title from Tanahashi that's surprising. Found it out Youtube and gonna watch it tonight.
