One of the greatest story to tell in any variety of entertainment-it being Movies, sports or wrestling-is The Cinderella Story.
In The Cinderella story which protagonist is Cinderella.
Cinderella is the most unlikely maiden to get married to the Prince and turn Princess. Much, because she doesn't seem worthy, because of her inferior state as a servant, although she had the right to be in an egual status as her stepsisters.
She might have the beauty, but her chances just seem slim, because of all the obstacles that are in front of her.
In wrestling there have been some similiar stories. Worthy to be called a Cinderella Story. One of those that might be remembered was the Rey Mysterio storyline. Where Rey Mysterio beat the odds, won the Royal Rumble and headed to wrestlemania where he captured the World Heavyweight Title.
Currently there has been one similiar Cinderella Storyline going on, which protagonist is smackdown's wrestling superstar Jeff Hardy.
Jeff Hardy has been the constant underachiever. He's has the ability of being a World Champion, but he continously fails to achieve it.
Just like Ciderella he finds to be near his dream, in Jeff Hardy's case the world Title is his dream. But he's unable to capture that dream. He wants to return to the World Title scene, but he must surpass his obstacles.
In the end just like every great fairy tale ending, Jeff Hardy will achieve his dream. When midnight strikes he won't be leaving any glass slippers, but he'll be gaining World Championship Gold. Probally afterwards he'll be carried out in a Carrige like a prince. Although He might not be King, he would have dethrone him.
I think the current Cinderella story in the WWE is CM Punk. Look at him. He's everything the typical WWE legend is not. He doesn't drink or use drugs, and that includes steroids. He's not overly tall or muscular. He doesn't have a chiseled physique although he's in damn good shape. He doesn't have superhuman qualities like Hogan, Warrior, Undertaker or Cena.
He's just a guy who has busted his ass to get to where he is now. He rose through the ranks starting from the independent scene to ROH and finally the WWE. Now he can call himself a former World Heavyweight Champion. Sure, he's on the sidelines at the moment, but he's an established WWE superstar. There aren't many wrestlers who can claim that, and he's worked his ass off to get there.

I agree, although Jeff Hardy is just as weak looking, and has been with the WWE for around a decade without winning the big Prize.
But you make a great point. There isn't to many wrestlers that live a clean lifestyle like C.M Punk does. Only thing is, C.M. Punk is pretty much new to wrestling, for many fans that only tune in to watch the WWE, and don't pay attention to other wrestling promotions like ROH.
I'm going to say Christian Cage. Whilst you could say that Edge's career was very similiar and arguably a lot more successful, I believe Cage got where he is through hard work and determination.
That's not to say Edge didnt, but Edge seems to have that raw charisma that may have made it easier for him, whereas Cage is smaller and seems to have had a rougher ride to the top(ish)
