The Gimmick That Saved My Career!

From a Bad Gimmick to a Good one

Its important to have a good gimmick if you want to succeed in wrestling.Especially if you want to reach World Championship status.

In The World of Wrestling not to many wrestlers get many opportunities. Some wreastlers are realease with in a year,so finding a gimmick that goes well with a wrestlers attitude is very important.Especially if its a wrestler that starts his career at an older age.

Some wrestlers have recover from bad gimmicks. Some like Jericho
would say will never e-e-e-ever be the same again. So lets take a look at some wrestler that have survied bad gimmicks and the gimmick that could have destroyed their career.

Cowboy Scot Hall:Though being a Cowboy wasn,t that bad it has been a gimmick that s had run its course. And wasn't very apealing for fans that have lost interest in watching yet another Cowboy, but going to the WWF/E he portayed a much refreshing character The Bad Guy Razor Ramon, a Cuban American. Modeled after Al Pacino in his character from the movieScarface.(The World is Mine)

Glen Jacobs: better known now as Kane.He survived some bad gimmicks and a parody. The Dentist Isaac Yankem, later changed to the fake Diesel, and finally to The Undertaker brother Kane.Probally one of the reasons Kane was wearing a mask was so fans wouldn't notice that he was in fact The Fake Diesel.Which would have killed the Story of being Undetaker brother.

Scott Stiener:All though he had success as being an American proffesional wrestler. It never got him to many World Title opportunities. It wasn't until he transformed in to Big Poppa Pump caught the attention of many fans.

Lex Luger: Started out as the Narcissist Lex Luger in the WWF. and later on as the All American..All though he had some success Previously. He probally had better success by just being the Total Package Lex Luger in WCW.after leaving the WWF.

Former WWF Jobber Duane Gil went from being just Duane Gil to Light Heavyweight champion Gilberg. Seating at home, got a call from the WWF that would change his career and gave him a decent paycheck. He should be thanking Bill Goldberg still.

Solofa Fatu Jr:He survived from being a masked wrestler with no personality to being Mostly recognized as Rikishi former Intercontinental champion.and a member of a popular team named Too Cool.

Kevin Nash:A call from Shawn Michaels changed his career forever from being in WCW as Vinnie Vegas to Shawn new bodyguard Big Daddy Cool Diesel.

Perhaps the biggest wrestling change was from; no one other than Steve Austin. From Stunning Steve Austin to just Steve Austin in ECW,to the Ring Master in the WWF & Finally to Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Texas Rattle Snake.

So wrestling companies should think twice before releasing a wrestling Superstar ,because he very well could be the next wrestling legend.

Which do you believe has been the biggest gimmick turn around in wrestling history? From a bad gimmick to a good one.

Flex Kavanna/Rocky Maivia into the Rock.

Would say steve austin, but i don't think it was a gimmick change that necessarily propelled him but more so the fact he was given the oportunity to be himself. Stunning steve austin was a decent gimmick but i agree the ringmaster was absolute pish. Partly because i never really saw why he was given the ringmaster moniker as it was basically a toned down steve austin (he talked the same minus the cursing and had similar mannerisms to SCSA)

Umaga was "Jamal" as part of "3 Minute Warning" - a tag team that didn't do much during Bischoff's tenure as GM.

His tag team partner was Rosey, who you may remember as the Super-Hero-In-Training with Hurricane.

Papa Shango - The Godfather

Although I much preferred him as Papa Shango, most people loved The Pimp.

Undertaker? A crappy Mean Mark Callus in WCW to a mega star in WWE.
