Re: 2000:Best wrestler in each of these categories
1. I'd say Angle as he put on good matches with Tazz, Benoit & Jercho, The Rock, 6 -way HIAC at Armageddon and won KOTR. Plus he was the Euro-Continental Champ.
2. Easily The Rock...I think this was the year in which he came up with something new every 4 months to add to his growing list of catchphrases
No Mercy
Hardys -vs- Conquistadors (whatever happened to those guys?)
Triple H -vs- Benoit
Rock -vs- Angle (Angles 1st World Title)
Armageddon
Angle, Taker, Rikishi, Rock, Austin, Hunter (HiAC)
Looking at all those, I remember enjoying a lot of what I was seeing. I would probably say that Hunter would get my vote as best wrestler, but the vote would be "qualified". He was still fresh in the main event scene at that time, and was bumping like a loon all year long. He also was in some great storylines with retiring Mick, feuding with Jericho and Benoit and with the undercurrent of the Angle feud running throughout it. Where I would qualify my choice is by saying that, if you can't look incredible in feuds (most of which were "new") with Foley, Rock, Jericho, Benoit and Angle, you would surely count as a wrestling retard. He positioned himself all year (pretty much) against the stellar workers of his generation and he came out looking great.
With the crowd so desperate to get behind him after Summerslam (courtesy of the Angle/Steph triangle) it was a shame that things went off the cliff at the end of the year for him when he got involved in the whole "who tried to kill Austin" mess. Although even that had been recovered a few months later.
Special mention should also (for me) be given to the incredible physical efforts of E&C, Hardy's and Dudley's who had countless great matches in any combination of four man or six man groups.
So far as "best on mic" for the year. Harder to remember specific Raw efforts, but I enjoyed Angle and Jericho a lot this year (Jericho bloomed after getting rid of the whole Chyna "angle"). E&C were fantastic too, but I'd probably edge (geddit) them out in favour of The Rock.
