The TNA X Division Championship (TNA). Of the three championships used in TNA, this is the only that does not represent the , created on June 19, 2002, is a professional wrestling title contested in Total Nonstop Action WrestlingNational Wrestling Alliance.

History

This championship is competed for by wrestlers of the X Division, where a high-flying, high risk style of wrestling is used. Rather than emphasizing the fact that most wrestlers who perform this style are under 220 lb (100 kg) by calling it a "cruiserweight division", TNA decided to emphasize the high risk nature of the moves these wrestlers perform by calling it the "X Division", making it a key attraction of the company. As of 2006, the heaviest champion to date is Samoa Joe who, despite being around 280 lb (127 kg), competed primarily and virtually exclusively in the X Division for his first year with TNA.
The slogan for the X Division, first coined by TNA announcer Mike Tenay, has been "it's not about weight limits, it's about no limits." TNA promotes the X Division and the X Division Championship as "wrestling reinvented" and views it as the innovative side of professional wrestling, whereas the NWA World Heavyweight Championship is promoted as the "traditional" side to wrestling, representing prestige and history.
On May 25, 2003, Chris Sabin won the WWA International Cruiserweight Championship, unifying it with the X Division Championship as World Wrestling All-Stars (WWA) folded after that show.

• Samoa Joe's second title win marked the first time which the title has changed hands during a non-pay-per-view event. He also lost it weeks later at a non-pay-per-view event.
• Two wrestlers have won both the X Division Championship and WWF Light Heavyweight Championship: Syxx-Pac (as "X-Pac" in WWE), and Jerry Lynn.
• Two wrestlers have won both the X Division Championship and WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Syxx-Pac (as "Syxx" in WCWKid Kash. and "X-Pac" in WWE), and
• Sean Waltman (also known as Syxx, X-Pac, or Syxx-Pac) is the only man to have won the TNA X Division Championship, the WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Championship, and the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship.
• Matt Bentley and Frankie Kazarian are the only men to date to become co-holders of the X Division Championship, when they were declared co-winners of Ultimate X4.
