| Re: Your Favorite Feud of 1997? As much as I liked the Bret Hart vs. Austin, after the submission match, it kinda cooled between them early in '97 and then it eventually included the rest of the Hart Foundation. Bret vs. Michaels was too inconsistent.
The one that held my interest the most was Taker vs. Michaels. I liked how it started innocently enough with Shawn bashing Taker in the head with the chair at Summerslam. Then Taker wanting revenge, but Michaels calling it a mistake, and Taker continuing to prod Michaels until Michaels got Rick Rude, and Hunter and Chyna. Sticking his chest out, Michaels assaults Taker again, and the match for Ground Zero is on, then on to Badd Blood, and Royal Rumble '98
The promos between these two were really good too. Michaels "the world is out to get me promo," telling Vince that he's being punished for only doing his job, Taker's brilliant promo telling Michaels the only reason the two hadn't crossed paths since Taker arrived was because Taker wanted to leave behind somebody unscathed to tell the legend of the Undertaker.
They sought to get people to invest in their feud which I feel they did superbly. |
