In WWE especially, talent is exaggerated constantly. For instance, Umaga was billed as this "extremely agile" wrestler as he jumped across the ring, doing once a match made him that because they wanted him to be WWE's answer to Samoa Joe.
Also, constantly mentioning how long the US Championship has been around and who's held it. To try and make it look like it matters these days.
Do you think of exaggerating talent? Does it annoy you?
Saying Umaga is extremely agile isn't a stupid exaggeration at all. He IS very agile for his size.
I don't see why you wouldn't want commentators to highlight a superstar's best attributes and make their accomplishments seem as big a deal as possible. Hyperbole is what wrestling is all about really.

It's got nothing to do with whether talent can deliver or not. Bret Hart was a great wrestler but they still sang his praises constantly on commentary. It's common sense that you'd want to put over the talent in the ring as much as you can.

I think I kind of understand what The Pope is saying. It does get annoying when the commentators repeats the same things every week. There's nothing wrong with putting a wrestler over, you should do it, but change it up some. For instance, in 2006, constantly reminding us that Mike Knox was the jealous boyfriend of Kelly Kelly and that Kelly was an exhibitionist was too much. We don't need to hear the same thing every week.
Maybe that's what he means or maybe I'm just putting my own spin on the thread.

I find it a lot more annoying when someone constantly puts over the COMPANY rather than a specific wrestler, such as Mike Tenay going on and on about how awesome TNA is and at Bound For Glory saying the PPV has a great atmosphere. If that were true there would be no need to say it. I'm not saying it's just TNA that do this, but Tenay is the worst offender I can think of.
