What if Ric Flair did not return in 2001?

Where do you think Flair's place in history would be if he didnt return in 2001, as great as Flair was he was very lucky to have the WWE make him out to be the best ever, with all of their marketing and hype machine, and with HBK and Triple H saying it. But if he did not return do you think he would still be as highly respected as he is now? What would be his place in wrestling history

I think he did great in the early 90's aganst macho man. I wish there would have been a hogan and flair wrestlemania, later it seemed like he never won ba match. Evolution was fun. I wish he would have had one last heavywieght titke run.

I think Ric would still have something to do with wrestling. Maybe a Road Agent or some shit.

With the way Flair talks about how he was feeling in 2001, he may of stayed out of the business. Maybe a few appearances for smaller companies here or there, but not anything near the amount he did in the WWE. As far as his legacy goes, I think it would of been similar to Randy Savage. Despite not having the WWE machine behind you claiming that you were the greatest, he was still recent enough that plenty of people would remember him. However, it's the younger generations that wouldn't view him in the same regard. Given time, he may have been forgotten even more similarly to how Dory Funk is remembered amongst younger or casual fans.
