I think it was here I heard that...maybe another forum, and certainly at Bad Blood 2003 there was a sign calling Nash 'Big Lazy'.
Admittedly, he's probably my favourite wrestler so I may be biased, but I don't understand where this is coming from and I'm hoping someone can shed light on it, without bashing ol' Kev about!
I was too young to watch him as Diesel and to watch Nitro (8 y/old when he started and a girl - no way my mum would have let me!), so I've seen most of his matches over the past year or so on youtube, dvds and such, and I really enjoy his style of wrestling. Yeah he's big and much slower than Michaels or Hart or most of the guys who were in wwf or wcw but he seemed powerful and cut some really awesome promos (Big Sexy - The Giant Killer!) His cage match with Hart was really entertaining, No Holds Barred against Michaels was too...and for some reason I love Halloween Havoc 1998 against Hall.
Anyway, can you guys shed some light?
Thanks in advance.

I give you props for finding the cage match entertaining. As much as I love the Hart/Diesel matches, I can't stand the cage match.
Nash became lazy in WCW. His character of the laid back wise cracking wrestler seemed to be not much of a stretch. Just looking at the quality of the matches he had there, it was a major drop from his WWE run. Once you prove you can put on some great matches, to then do otherwise, something's up. As time went on, he became lazier and older, which only slowed him down. The guy who worked his ass off against Sid (In Your House 1) to try and produce something decent was gone.

Thanks!
I kinda like his laid back character...seems more like him, but I understand what you mean. I haven't watched his matches in sequence for the most part, so maybe thats why I don't see it. I just think of him as big, powerful...and yeah he's slow, but it doesn't bother me. I guess the big, stalking wrestler appeals to me moer than some of the other styles.
Btw, the Hart/Diesel cage match is far from my favourite, but it was the only one I could think of at the time!
Thanks again.

His character is another reason why some fans have turned on him. There's better quality wrestlers who had the same gimmick.
Have you seen his other Bret Hart matches? King of the Ring 1994, Royal Rumble 1995 and Survivor Series 1995 are easily three of his best matches ever. The only singles match that beats out those (Minus the Survivor Series one, which I feel is his best) is the Shawn match.

I've seen Royal Rumble and Survivour Series 95...the No Holds Barred against Shawn is my favourite I think...probably because I love Shawn as well! I guess it's a personal preference thing, but I wish I could see him in TNA. I don't think it shows in Australia, even on cable.
As for the gimmick, I get that he comes across as lazy (like I said, not how I see it but I can see how it appears that way if you weren't a fan), but I'd have to say, from what little I've seen of their matches, Hogan and Big Show - even Kane now - seem to be in the same vein, and Hogan in later years was painful to watch. A good example of someone who didn't know when to call it a day. I like Big Show, but he's getting more and more useless...I guess Nash was allowed to get away with it because Bischoff had invested so much that it would have come crashing down (earlier than it did) if he'd pissed Nash and Hall off. Just out of interest, your thoughts on Hall as a wrestler?
Again, thanks for your help - I'll have to find KotR 94. Much and all as I dislike Hart, he was a great wrestler.

Same deal as Nash in that he gave up later in his career (Pretty much same point as Nash in WCW) and no longer tried. However, there was only more quality involved that it was a greater disappointment. Had Hall not messed up so much, he probably could have been a World Champion.
