When Edge got injured a couple of months ago, everybody on here was bemoaning the loss of what could have been a great superteam of Chris Jericho and Edge. I for one was devastated by the injury as I thought the team had real potential. I also remember being pretty pissed off when Big Show was named as his replacement, thinking it was a random pick and the two had no chemistry.
Fast forward a couple of months, and the general consensus is that JeriShow is one of the best things in wrestling currently. Yet, it would never have happened had Edge not got hurt. We may also get the added bonus of a great Jericho/Edge feud down the line, helped by Jericho's comments about Edge being a fragile weak link.
Can you think of any more chance occurrences that sparked something great happening in wrestling? An injury? Something else which forced the booking to be changed at the last minute and created something which turned out great?

Off the top of my head, the MSG incident cost Trips his KotR win, which was given to Austin and caused the birth of Austin 3:16. He was going to get his push eventually anyways, but it may not have been as pronounced if the MSG incident never happened.

This isn't exactly what you mean but it works I think and it would also work sort of in Capone's old thread about botches.
From Souled Out 1998 when Nash botched the Jackknife Powerbomb on Giant. It looked brutal, made him look sadistic, then when he mocked him about it after, it made a good few promos.
As for more of what you mean, pretty much any HHH injury To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. .

Cena's injury in 2007 led to a great Triple H/Orton Last Man Standing, but Cena/Orton would have been better, and Orton would have won the belt anyway, looking for credible in the process, so... To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Jericho's WHC run in 2008 as a result of Cena's injury only to drop it to him at SS. You can't tell me that had Cena been active that Jericho would've had a reign if at all

Jericho's run was fucking awful though, so I don't see how its a plus.
