I know this is going to sound markish but one that instantly pops out to me is Cena's year + reign. At the time, like everyone else I was dying for it to end. But looking back and in comparison to all the hot potatoing, I think it was a great reign. Think of all the very good-awesome matches that went on during that time.. Whether it was Umaga, HBK, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, etc. John Cena put on some great matches.
Even though it was short and poorly booked, Chris Benoit's reign was awesome and to a lesser extent just for the MTFO factor, Punk's reigns have been entertaining for me.
For TNA, no clue.
For ROH, I loved Nigel's. For like two years I've said I prefer Nigel to Dragon for whatever reason so when he won the belt I marked so hard. He got some hate but eh eventually he turned and everyone fell in love with him. While the last bit of his reign began getting dull due to the repetitive matches and style of matches, I loved his reign.
As for past title reigns (as in not in recent history) I'll have to give it some thought.
Yours?

Intresting question. While I could do a long list of best reigns, which I think has to include the quality of matches, memorablity, feuds etc, picking a favorite is harder.
I'll probably go for Rey Mysterio's World Championship reign. Mostly because I enjoyed talking about it and it polarized most people I came across. I got more enjoyment out of that reign than most.

I'm surely going to take an obscene amount of flak from this, but I'm going to say Goldberg's first reign in WCW. At the time, he was booked as, and credibly played the part of, an unstoppable rookie monster. It just worked. The man was untouchable. Heenan calling him "THE MAN" every time he made an appearance just reinforced what the audience already knew: This man is unstoppable.
Heenan said in a shoot interview that one of the things that led to the downfall of WCW was killing Goldberg's undefeated streak with a tazer. I can't help but agree with him on that. Goldberg, at that time, was the hero of WCW. Seeing him fall to a tazer was one of the biggest disappointments I'd felt at that point as a wrestling fan.

I thought the Goldberg reign was great as well. Started off well, although putting that match on TV was a terrible move, even if it got good ratings for that edition of Nitro. ended in an intresting way, and if half of the main eventers hadn't got injured the Fingerpoke Of Doom would have had a proper conclusion. And he had a brilliant match with DDP along the way.

His match with DDP was one of the high spots, if you will, of being a fan of WCW at the time. It legitimately looked like the WCW People's Champ could put one over on the WCW champ. That was one of the better booked matches that I can think of in that era of the WCW.

In ROH, my favorite reign would also be Nigel's title reign. I thought he was a great champion if not the greatest ROH champion. CM Punk had a fantastic reign as well but it was obviously pretty short. If it would have lasted longer and kept consistent, I would call his reign the best. Nigel had consistently great matches and pretty much all of his title defenses were good/great matches. Dragon's reign was great too but it just seemed to be lacking something, not sure what though.
In NOAH, my favorite reign would no doubt be Kobashi's reign that lasted two years. His title reign was VERY consistent and he had a ton of ****+ title defenses with very few title defenses below four stars. Kobashi's reign was just awesome on all levels. Brilliant stuff.
I'd love to choose a definitive one for AJPW but it's tied five-ways between Misawa, Kawada, Jumbo, Kobashi, and Tenryu. I loved all of their Triple Crown reigns as all of them produced alot of epic matches throughout their reigns. All of their title reigns were just great. I'm a big fan of Vader and would like to include him in the tie but he just didn't have that many great matches as champion.
In WWE, while Kurt Angle's reign as WHC was short, I thought it was very good with very good promos and a few good matches. His title defense against Undertaker at NWO '06 was just great. It's just a shame that it was so short. I guess for the WHC, I'd have to go with Kurt Angle with Jericho in close second. I can't pick a favorite reign for the WWE Championship. So many great title reigns between Savage, Hart, HBK, Stone Cold, The Rock, and Kurt Angle. Those six, all the title reigns they had, are my favorites.
I don't have one for TNA as I've never really followed the product all that closely but I have seen a fair amount of TNA matches, just can't pick a favorite NWA/TNA World Championship reign.
In WCW, I'd probably have to pick Vader for this one. I loved his title reigns and thought they were very good. With Harley Race at his side, he was doing a great job as champion. Vader played the role of heel to a perfect T and had some good matches as champion. Vader takes the cake for WCW with Flair in close second.
For NWA, wow, very hard choice. Had tons of great title reigns from the likes of Flair, Harley Race, Terry/Dory Funk, Thesz, Jack Brisco, and more. I don't really have one for NWA, just alot of great reigns and matches from multiple reigns.
Great thread idea by the way!

JBL had the best heel title reign in recent memory. It brought out the best in him and his stable members. Smackdown was very entertaining with him as champion and a creditable stable. The Cabinet is the most under rated stable in the WWE history. JBL gave us a lot of good title matches and feuds with the some of the top super stars today.
wccw- even though his nwa title reign is considered one of the worst. kerry von erich beating ric flair for the nwa world title. there was so much emotion with what happened. david von erich died and the fans watched him grow up in front of their eyes. he was groomed and already set to be the next nwa world heavyweight champion. the texas stadium was broke attendence records. you had harley race there, ric flair, bill watts, like wrestlings whos who there honoring david. had his father fritz to come out of retirement to team with kevin and mike in honor of david. then you had had kerry von erich carying a yellow rose (david's nick name the yellow rose of texas) wearing a blue robe with In Memory Of David On The Back. Earlier in the show ric flair broke down in tears only ric flair can do about david. kerry and ric put on a performance of a life time that night. one minute kerry has the iron claw on flair but flair gets out. flair has the figure four on kerry but kerry gets out. then kerry beats flair with a back slide. texas stadium went wild as all the fan including kevin, mike and chris ran into teh ring to celbrate kerry's huge win. the title reign wasn't the greatest and won it for the wrong reasons; but the emotion for the win was grand.

I always liked Sid's WWF Title run when he beat HBK was a massive shock at the time but was great to see.
Santino's run as IC Champion with the Honky Tonk-o-Meter was great too To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

My TNA one is Jeff Jarrett's from the first eleven months of the initial run of Impact. I am a huge Jarrett fan and loved how he had a stranglehold on the thing. I hated how AJ Styles won the gold from him as AJ was my least favorite TNA wrestler then.
