With the end of the decade approaching soon, and this place needing some good serious wrestling discussion, I had a few ideas for cool projects that could be fun if we get the right participation.

Whilest rummaging the ROH boards I found the old “ROH 100” project they did there where they had people vote and ballot the top 100 ROH matches of all time. This place doesn’t have the memberbase to do an ROH list, but I think we could do maybe a “Top 100 WWE matches of the decade” countdown. It would take time and effort, but could be rewarding and give us all that lovely false sense of accomplishment. It would likely involve months of watching stuff you haven’t seen, rewatching older matches, discussing them, etc etc and eventually at some deadline, most likely at the beginning of next year, sending in ballots of 100 or 50 or something matches. Then the votes would be a tallied up and we would have a countdown listing the best matches.

Obviously a project like that would require some more participation than just me, and I know we don’t have that hardcore of a memberbase, so I’m essentially running this thread just to see who would be interested in participating in such a project if I were to go ahead with it. I’m not asking for people to say they will definitely take part and sign a contract or anything, but some sense of interest so I can see wether it would be worth the effort. I won’t bother if it’ll just be me, Tom and Ken. >_>

Second idea was a potential “Wrestler Of The Decade” tourney. I know this place had tourney overkill when I left, but I think it’s another idea that could be fun and garner some good discussion. I think I would restrict it to just US wresters, because as much as I think someone like Kobashi would be a top 5 lock, it would be pointless including him if I and one or two others are the only ones who will vote for him and everyone else like “who the fuck?”. It would probably be 32 wrestlers nominated by members then a series of polls in the Wrestling Games section to keep it from cluttering the main forum. Main problem that is holding me back from doing this is we could see the resurgence of the brain destroying “you need to wrestle for the WWE to be good” argument which could potentially kill it and seeing something like Jeff Hardy (who probably wouldn’t be in it) winning over a guy like Aries or Danielson would be pretty disappointing.
So, thoughts? Who would be interested in participating? Recommendations and other ideas are welcome.
Both are good ideas. I especially like the best 100 WWE matches one. I'm sure we could come up with some good stuff for that, and I'm always interested in watching highly rated matches I've not seen.
I'm in for both.

I tried the 100 matches one myself a while ago (not watching them all, by memory and how they were generally recieved). It's super tough trying to figure out what TV matches are worthy let me tell you.
Anyways, I'm willing to help if need be.

I'm questioning wether to do the tourny idea now or wait until the end of the year. I don't really see anything happening in the next 5 months that would change peoples' opinions on wrestlers dramatically.
I think the tourny idea can be done now personally.
As for the top 100 matches, it's good to give people a heads up this early because I know I will be making an effort to watch all those WWE matches I've heard are good-great but have never got around to watching.
