Necro Reviews WCW Nitro 1996

Got my hands on WCW in 1996. Credit goes to a person with the name DannyH. Anyway, I'm going to just watch every episode, and give a run down of each show.

WCW Nitro was actually 1 hour up to I believe the end of march of 96.

I will also include a few clips that I found interesting, and 1 match.

I'll upload them all on youtube, so you guys can see a few of things I'm reviewing as I talk about them.

My review of the first Nitro in 1996 1.1.96 will be up tonight.

1996 eh? Should be dull, I'm sure nothing big will happen throughout the year.

Re: Necro Reviews WCW Nitro 1996

January 1st, 1996

- We start out with Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael, & Bobby Heenan in

the booth. Always loved Bischoff in the announce booth. Heenan is

incredible. McMichael is very annoying. I forgot how Nitro used to

only be a one hour program.

Now to the first match.

Arn Anderson vs Macho Man Randy Savage

Arn Anderson is the man comes out in the four horseman shirt, Macho

Man is rocking the old school outfit. Looks like a life size Slim

Jim. Macho Man didn't have Elizabeth at this point in his career.

Macho Man seems to have an arm injury that's covered up, match starts

out pretty good. Both great in the ring. It's funny to hear how pro

WCW Eric Bischoff was. But honestly he was so much better than Tony

Shivane. That guy is just awful. Anyway, the match wasn't too bad,

Macho Man really selling the arm injury. Arn Anderson's over selling

shit is great too haha. I love when he just randomly wables like he's

out of it. Macho Man gets the win by cheating, after Arn Anderson

tried to cheat to win and failed. Chris Benoit, and Brian Pillman

come out to try to get it overturned, and stick up for their fellow

Horseman

Winner: Macho Man Randy Savage.

Lord Steven Regal vs Chris Benoit

Regal sporting the old school outfit, and is accompanied by some guy

dressed up as well haha. Chris Benoit also sporting the Horseman

shirt. Anyway, the match was solid both guys worked well together.

Regal ends up winning with a roll up while gabbing the tights.

Winner: Lord Steven Regal

- Brian Pillman confronts Arn Anderson, and Chris Benoit. Pillman was

fucking great, he's a nut case. Love his mic skills, and he gets a

great reaction. Now out of no where comes The TaskMaster Kevin

Sullivan, Ed Leslie playing some retarded gimmick called The Zodiac,

Jimmy Hart and The Giant (the Dungeon of Doom) is holding them back

because they have their own agenda. Uhhh ok anyway I posted this

video just so people could see how absurd this was.

The Super Assassins with Col. Parker vs Sting & Lex Luger

So The Barbarian, & The Warlord Were the Super Assassins. Lex Luger

was wearing stupid elastics around his biceps, and Sting was still

rocking the old school surfer make up. During the beginning of the

match Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman came out asking Mondo McMichael

for guidance ya was a brilliant segment, while they split the screen

in which about 70% of it was a blank background. So ya basically you

could hardly see a good portion of the match for that bogus segment.

Sting & Luger win by double submission. The Torcher Rack & The

Scorpion Deathlock.

Winner: Sting & Lex Luger

- Jimmy Hart gets interviewed, while The Giant is in the background

with his old school long hair. Jimmy pretty much sums up that he'll

manage many different people. The Giant delivers a pretty shit promo

on Hogan. You can see it below.

Ric Flair (c) vs Hulk Hogan - WCW Heavyweight Title Match

Hogan, & Flair were putting on a pretty solid match, when out comes

Jimmy Hart to distract Hogan. Ric Flair takes advantage of the

situation, and is on the offensive. Arn Anderson hits Hogan with a

foreign object, and yeah some how the ref doesn't see it. Then the

ref realizes it, and calls a DQ. Then the other 3 Four Horsemen come

into the ring to help out Flair. And of all things Hogan has them

all on their knees begging for him to not hurt them. Ya you read that

right. Can you believe that? Then The Giant came in, but Macho Man

rips the chair out of The Giant's hands. What a cluster fuck.

Winner: Hulk Hogan by DQ (Flair still champ)

To end Nitro Hogan & Macho Man agree to help each other out in the future. Then the show ends.

Overall:

Not a bad Nitro several decent matches, some weird angles though.

Re: Necro Reviews WCW Nitro 1996

Just so you know.. Pillman was stirring trouble between the Horsemen and the Dungeon of Doom, and I think they even mention it in the video. Hence them coming out.

A lot of the DoD was super cheesy though.

Nah I know why it was happening, but it was just so damn bad haha. That's more so what I meant.
