I honestly can not think of any worse than Trips over Booker at Wrestlemania XIX. You have the most over babyface on the entire roster (who wasn't on his way out) job to a guy no one wanted to see. Booker was INSANELY over, EVERYONE wanted him to win, he had the in-ring ability, the charisma and popularity to a be a huge draw and make them a shit load of money, but instead they decided to have him job to the guy was producing shitty matches and hogging the spotlight and no one cared about. Cleanly. And no, it wasn't just that either, Trips had to kick out of all of Booker's finishers, including one he only busted out on big match occasions, and then Booker loses cleanly after one pedigree, and with several seconds pause in between too.
What a load of shit.
One thing that people fail to remember is that Booker was hardly in the position to be the top guy on Raw. The original idea for Wrestlemania was Scott Steiner finally winning the belt off of Trips. However, once the feedback started coming in on Steiner, the writers were forced to scramble for a backup plan. As for Booker, he had zero business being in a title match at Mania. From mid 2002 until the beginning of 2003, Booker was in the tag team ranks. After the Goldust team ended, Booker didn't even have anything to do at No Way Out. Yet, suddenly we were supposed to buy him as a top challenger on Raw and the next World Champion? As much as I would of preferred to have Booker T as champion over Triple H, it would of been a horrible move to have Booker win it with so little build.
Disappointing job? Sure. Did the wrong man go over? No.
