I have Straight Shootin with Punk and Joe on DVD and both guys come across as very down to earth, funny, and respectful to the business and those who came before them.

Please explain how Steamboat is an overated mid-carder. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
This.
Ricky Steamboat, if anything, is under rated. If we're going to talk about over rated we might as well make a thread about the "retired" Ric Flair. Im still rather amazed at what Steamboat did at Wrestlemania & Backlash, for a 56 year old man, thats pretty impressive, he was doing stuff that half of the WWE struggle to do.
Hell, Im going to stop here, Im not restricting you from your foot in mouth comments.

And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When theres no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"

I did. As a midcarder, he's very good. Probably one of the best midcarders ever. Unfortunately, people seem to think he was more than that.

Using one interview for your basis of an opinion is lol, especially when it's in THE SUN.
Are you implying The Sun edited Punk's interview to put him in an unfavourable light?

Hell, he was the only guy who paid tribute to Misawa in the WWE, that should show you how respectful he is.
Respectful to Misawa? Sure. Respectful to WWE management's wishes? I doubt it. Thoroughly unprofessional.

Because he was, he was the NWA World Champion on a few occasions which makes him a main eventer.

It's not as if people remember him for more than his WrestleMania 3 match. There are numerous NWA Champions from that period that were much better than Steamboat but never got proper recognition.

What does this even mean? His beat work was as a main eventer.
And no, the point was that using one interview (which actually seemed pretty fair) to base an opinion on is pretty laugh out loud.

Because they would have objected to him paying tribute to a dead wrestler? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
You're aware they are sending Punk to Japan to the tribute show, right?
Oh, how uninformed...

Except for the fact that his match against Savage for the Intercontinental Title is widely hailed as his best match ever. Probably the only one modern fans stand a chance of knowing.

"Laugh out loud" isn't an adjective. I would have accepted "funny" or an acronym of it.
I think it's perfectly fair, unless he was having an off day or something.

Because I'm guessing most fans in the audience and many more worldwide would be all "WTF?".

They really shouldn't bother. It's a waste of his energy. If he wasn't world champion, sure.

Looking at a list of former NWA champions, there is 1 person on that list during steamboats timeframe that hasn't gotten any recognition and thats Ron Garvin.
I'm going from Flairs 2nd reign {23/01/83} to Sting's 1st {07/07/90} and from that list, every name on that list has recognition as one of the greatest in professional wrestling except Garvin.
The list:
Ric Flair
Harley Race
Kerry Von Erich
Dusty Rhodes
Ron Garvin
Ricky Steamboat
Sting
Now you read your statement again and look at how wrong you are.
