I don't think we have one of these yet, so use this thread to nominate matches you believe are early Match of the Year Candidates for 2009. Obviously this spans all promotions and countries which is why its in this section.
I have only been watching WWE and TNA, but I seriously doubt anything as good as Undertaker/Michaels has occurred elsewhere...
KENTA-Davey Richards from ROH Supercard of Honor IV in Houston. I doubt it would get it over Undertaker-Michaels, but I was there for both and honestly liked the ROH match better.
Top 3:
<o></o>
1. The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels - Wrestlemania XXV
2. Christian vs Jack Swagger - WWE ECW 24/2/09<o></o>
3. Shinsuke Nakamura & Hirooki Goto vs Mitsuharu Misawa & Takashi Sugiura – NJPW 4/1/09
Oh, I know that. Nothing is really going to take MOTY except Taker/HBK at the moment. Plus, it was one of the fun ECW matches this year besides Swagger/Christian I actually watched with excitment.
It's early. Just giving a nominee.

The only match I've seen so far that I think is of MOTY quality is Nigel McGuinness vs Tyler Black at Injustice II. It gets criticism for the amount of interference, but it's just what sets it apart from other title matches and, if anything, made it a lot more dramatic. Plus, this was before Tyler kept getting title shots and #1 contenderships. Before the overkill on opportunities for him. It definitely looked like he could've won this and I doubt many people would object to it like Lynn.

I agree with this one. I believe that the HBK/Undertaker is being ridiculously overrated, even though it was still very good.
A lot of the time I judge matches based on how long the match went against how long the match FELT (going with the old saying 'time flies when you're having fun'). I thought it was a 20 minute match and I couldn't believe it was 47 minutes long.
Granted I have yet to see RoH's 7YA or Supercard of Honor IV. I have a feeling Nigel vs. Kenta may overtake the Injustice II match, and Davey vs. Kenta may very well overtake it.

Those two are my two MOTYC. I can't get over how spectacular those matches were and how awesome they both were to see live. I have to say though, I give Taker & HBK the slight edge due to the fact the finish wasn't botched.
