The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

Usually In wrestling the babyfaces are the ones who get the praise when a company is doing well. they are the ones who get the crowds cheers but i have decided to construct a list of the top 50 men who received the Boos!. The top 50 greatest heels of all time.

Note: True hate for certain wrestlers outside of the ring does not apply--like Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Lex Luger, etc......

This has to do with "ring heat" consistent with a character not with real life persona's.

they will be posted in lots of ten, Anyway enjoy

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

Number 50- number 40
50. Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Is probably most recognized for his carrer in WCW and later TNA. He was extrmely annoying in the early attitude era of WWf with his country singer gimmick and when he was in WCW in 2000 he got more unbearable with his repeatitive guitar shots. But there is one thing for sure he got viewers.
49. Greg Valentine

He could get heat from one ugly smug to the crowd. he was unbearable and for that he will always be remembered.
48. Baron Von Raschke

During the 1970's this man knew how to piss off a crowd and thats why he is in the top 50 heels
47. Sherri Martel

She cut some of the best promo's for a female athelete. She knew how to get a crowd annoyed and with her intense make up things just got worse lol. She may not be with us anymore but she will always be remembered as a standing ground for all heel female atheletes.
46.Edge

In todays day and age, a good consistent heel is hard to come by. Edge, thus far has fit the bill drawing tons of heat both in and out of the ring. With a pucker of the lip can draw more heat than a KKK member at a NAACP picnic.
45. Dick Murdoch

Known for his heat in the 70's and 80's. He was once billed in as the toughest man in the buissness and even though he had a face stint his heel stink will always stand out.
44. Dino Bravo

One of the greatest Montreal athletes of all time. The original world's strongest man was shot dead in 1992 at his house in france but that does not stop the fact that he is one fo the greatest heels of all time. He could Piss off a crowd like no other.
43. Raven

He was the original heel of ECW. the crowd loved him but soem of the heat he pulled was as bad a scrathing the chalkboard. For example his crucifiction on sandman. This is why he is number 43 on the list.
42. Nikita Koloff

Born Scott Simpson, an american, he would take on the persona Nikita Koloff, in the '80's was one of the most hated heels of that era in which he had a very memorable best of 7 series against one of the great faces at the time in Magnum TA.
41. Honky Tonk Man

Considered one of the most unbearable atheletes in WWE history. His singing ability was up there with jillian hall and he held the title for so long which pissed of so many fans. Some body grab that guitar and stick it up his arse lol.
40. Jerry Lawler

Wheather it was in the 80's or his incidents with ECW he would always get heat wherever he went. he may now be the pervert of WWE but at one stage he was the most wanted man

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

Number 39- Number 30
39. Shawn Michaels.

HBK may be a face today but back in the DX days and around the mid 90's he was the top heel of the buissness. With his enforcer diesel he would get the fans pissed off but then again they enjoyed it. Wheather it was the incident at the barber shop with marty jannetty or the montreal screw job he could always get soem ehat on himself and the buissness.
38. Kevin Sullivan

One word to describe this guy... Mental. he had some good fueds with Chris benoit and hulk hogan and at one time of his carrer he was considered the most hated man in wrestling. He was a freak and could really pee of a crowd and at the same time entertain them.
37. Eddie Gilbert

IMO AJ Styles long lost father lol but since his death i have realised how great of a heel he was. He helped get soem great talent over and kick started there carrers like sting but he still was highly unliked. His cockyness was what made him what he is today.
36. Larry Zybysko

The Living Legend is like that really sour warhead. You cant stand it but you want to have more. Thats what everyone wanted with Larry. he had fueds with sammartino and baclund which are highly underated but will never be forgotten. And i believe he was never a face in his whole carrer.
35. Paul Orndorff

Mr Wonderful set the world on fire when we thought we had a dream team on our hands with orndorff and hogan. But what set the world on fire was the betrayel towards hogan. It lead to soem phenominal matches most notabily his match in a steel cage against hogan at SNME. Everyone hated his cockyness but there is no denieing he was one of the most charasmatic men of the 80's.
34. Gene Kiniski

What alot of todays wrestlers base their "characters" on when the word "heel" gets thrown around. The self proclaimed "Canada's Greatest Athlete" truly lived up to his name. One of the top heels in the 60’s.
33. Sgt Slaughter

LISTEN HERE MAGGOT.... Sgt Slaughter was one of the most hated wrestlers in 1992. he teamed up with the iron sheik as an iraqi sympathizer and the crowd couldnt stand it. they were use to the Sarg that was so patriotic about the US but now he was against it and it was a huge time for the WWF coming out fo the gulf war. But what made things worse was at the time the ultimate warrior was WWF's head face alongside hogan and when SGT. beat him at the royal rumble unfairly and he become WWE champ the crowd went bonkers.
32. Rick Rude

Rick Rude may not be with us anymore but here was one guy that could pull heat in minutes. He was ravishing no question in the ladies mind and his hot headiness pissed of the fans and the locker room so much it started to boil. But with heenan well you know what im getting at. lets just so he made things just that much worse. But what i think he is most hated for is that in 97 he joined DX as the 4th member but unexpectadly showed up on WCW the week after and storylines, planning and even title runs had to be scrapped because of it.
31. Michael P.S. Hayes

His position is not for his recent racial slurs but for his agrrovating wessel like attitude in WCCW. He was the guy who loved to stir the post especially with the whole freebirds/ vonerich thing and he was so unbearable the crowd could not stand him
30. Eddie Guerrero

Some may disagree but there is no denieing that he could get a crowd furious for simple little things. Im not just talking bout his stints in WCW or WWE im also talking about him and Art Barrs Hair vs Mask match against El Santo & Octagon. Which really pissed of the fans. Also For example the whole eddie/rey storyline got familys furious with his sons custody and all and even though many of us loved him he did gets us a bit aggrovated.

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

Number 29- Number 20
29. "macho Man" Randy Savage

Macho Man always Played the Coward heel throughout his carrer. He very rarely was the nice guy but i think we were glad he was the bad guy. He cut some really intense prmo's and could make a fued great but everyone still loved to hate him. Wheather it was WWF or WCW he was a great heel
28. Dudley Boyz

These two guys had some of the most intense heat on them after they would finish a show in the ECW arena. They didnt care what the said as long as it brought heat and it did. Bubba wouldnt know when to stop and would use soem words that TV just didnt allow. In the end they were the greatest heel tag team with no doubt
27. "Superstar" Billy Graham

Superstar billy graham was what got kids into wrestling in the late 70's. But eventually turned on them and become one of the biggest heels the wrestling industry has ever seen and stayed a heel for the rest of his carrer.
26. Vader

vader is one this list becuase he has been quite controversial. He ones got banned form the Sumo hall for causing a riot and when he was a heel he was a force not to be reckoned with. He may nto be the greatest heel but he has broken many rules and i still would not want to meet him in a dark alley today.
25. Arn Anderson

The enforcer was definetely one of those smash mouth heels. In the 4 horsman along side flair it was the greatest mic work a man could ever see but when he laced on those boots he was just as good and is considered one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. He is respected but he was never liked.
24. Tully Blanchard

Tully was an original 4 horman member and started the strut. he was one of the cokiest guys to date and always said he was better then the working man. and he had the wrestling skill to back it up.
23. Bruiser Brody

Bruiser Brody was a cult icon. He had a huge following from wrestling fans even though he was a major heel and was never part of a mcmahon or crockett promotion even though he was huge.
22. Triple H

HHH has dominated the wrestling buissness for nearly 10 trs and at least 80% of that time he has been the top heel of the company. he is sadistic and the crowd love it even though he is meant to be hated. HHH has great tactics to piss off the fans and it always delievers
21. Rick Martel

The one man i could not stand. He first started as a face with tito snatana but then the unbearable happened. he become heel overnight and he was so freaking annyoing. It got everyone unstable but he is considered one fo the greatest heels of all time.
20. Killer Karl Kox

One of the most hated men to ever be in the ring. He was only cheered once in his carrer and that was in australia against adbullah the butcher. He was a force not to be reckoned with and killer kowalski got his idea of this menace.

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

19. The Rock

He may of spent 2000 to 2002 as WWE's main face but for most of his carrer he was a heel. lets go back to 1997. He was a member of the nation of domination which was a huge stable at the time and also at the time he was the intercontinetal champion, he was fueding with ken shamrock quite alot and when the mic was on him he would get straight to the point. He would ramble on about how he is destined for greatness just cause his father was a pro wrestler. The rock didnt care about the fans and they didnt care bout him until mid 1999 when he started becoming face. But before then he was so cocky it was quite funny. Especially with his fued with the face of WWF at the time stone cold steve austin. Also to add to his heel part of his carrer he came back in 2003 for what was meant to be the return of the rock which lead to 3 of the ebst fueds of 2003. Firstly at no way out 2003 he took on hulk hogan and the rock was workign with vince. The outcome was that the ref faked to be hurt and screwed hogan over who the ref was later to be revealed as sylvain grenier when he made his wrestling debut. Then took on austin for the third time at WM and this time it was at wrestlemania 19 and the rock did nto win cleanly. He broke rules to pick up the victory. And then lastly it was Goldberg Vs the rock at backlash 2003. Both men gave it there all and in the end goldberg kinda dominated the rock which was a sad end. He was so hated because well the crowd respected his wrestling ability but his cockyness got the better of him and the crowd did not appreciate that. Also at one of the rock's matches there were "Die rocky Die" chants actually being chanted by most of the audience.

18. Nick Bockwinkle

Nick Bockwinckle began his heel stage of his carrer in verne gagne's AWA teaming with Ray Stevens being managed by "Playboy" Bobby Heenan. He later on become the world champion multiple times and would do anything to pick up the victory. He goes down as one fo the greatest wrestlers to grace the ring but he is also one of the greatest heels. To be honest i have no idea why the crowd hated him i guess it was just a thing they had against him. But history tells us how much of a heel he was.

17. Mr perfect

Mr perfect began his carrer in AWA and becoming world champion there. At the time he was a heel but was not the same heel, he was just a disliked guy. He was simply called curt hennig but when he jumped ship to WWF we saw a whole new side of Curt hennig. he was arrogant, Confident and well PERFECT. He would accompany Ric flair to the ring with bobby and then when it was hsi tiem to shine he would boast about great he was as if flair had his back but all he had was heenan. Later Mr perfect Jumped Over To WCW and for a little while was a tweener until they put him In NWO. To me he was a main factor of NWO he wasnt as good as savage on the mic but he was up there. He was the most confident of the lot and the cockyness never went away with Mr perfect. I wouldnt say the crowd hated him i would just say he was meant to be a huge heel but it kinda didnt work cause the fans fell in love with him.
16. Abdullah the Butcher

The king of the fork, Abdullah, was hated from Puerto Rico to the States and will always be remembered for his ruthless style of hardcore wrestling, in which he developed some awesome feuds with the likes of Bruiser Brody, Carlos Colon, and other true greats in pro wrestling. I believe he is about 70 and he has been a heel his whole carrer. They fans have never liked him and i cant blame them. I feel he is dull and boring and so do many fans. He is extrmely confronting if he ever speaks on the microphone and mumbles most of his lines. I dont like him but he is a huge heel and i think he deserves to be on this list.
15. Jake Roberts

Where ever jake was there was always trouble. Many people loved jake over the years but in reality he is one of the greatest heels of all time. Jake would not even hesitate to fight dirty to pick up the victory and he always would fight dirty. His signature trademark was his snake "Damien" would usually get ivolvedin soem way and even though the fans loved it he was still a heel. Jake had very good ring pshycology and to be a great heel you have to have that and he did and thats why he was so great. I think it was the 1990 royal rumble and andre was in the ring and all of a suddne jake put a snake in the ring and andre chucked hismelf over the top rope. Even though this was meant to receive a boo cause andre was a fan favourite at the time the crowd actually cheered for jake. So not every heel is booed it just shows how great some heels can be.

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

14-10
14. Mr Fuji.

He was most recognized for being a heel when he was a manager. And the crowd hated him. He mnagaed guys like yokozuna(Who he lead to the WWE title), Orient express, kamala, George steel, Demolition, Owen hart, berzerker and warlord to anme a few. To be honest he was one of the greatest managers of all time. He knew how to stir a crowd wheather he was helping his clients pick up a victory or he was stepping in the ring the crowd just didnt like him.

13. The Sheik

The sheik did not give a s**t about anyone. He was the fore father of hardcore alongside terry funk without question and the crowd could not stand him. He would pull out weapons during matches and stab guys foeheads with them and at the time they were into the likes of bob backlund, andre the giant and superstar billy graham. So he was a massive alternative and a massive heel alternative. He wasnt cocky or arrogant the crowd just purely hated him because of how dirty he would fight in the ring.
12. Harley race

A 7 Time NWA world heavyweight champion who wasnt that much hated until he jumped to WWF and got the gimmick of "King" harley race. After the match he would get his opponents to bow before him and the crowd despised it. And usually harley would walk out with the last laugh until haku really showed him who the king was.
11. Buddy Rogers

Until late in his career, the original Nature Boy was one of pro wrestling’s most famous villains. No matter if it was the NWA or the WWWF, Buddy Rogers was notorious for his brash openly cocky behavior. It got even worse when he was the first to ever hold both the NWA and WWWF world titles. And who could forget the "Battle of the Nature Boys" match in mid Atlantic. Of course we know how that turned out. WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
10. Stan Hansen

He Was Tough, he was Rough and the crowd just had Enough. Every Top face wrestler of the late 70's faced stan hansen and he didnt care how he picked up a fall as long as he walked out the winner he was happy. No body was as hated as stan hansen throughout the late 70's

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

9-5
9. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

The hotrod was a guy who was little but still had the fists to back it up. He cut some of the most intense promo's and had soem remarkable fueds. Especially with MR.T, Hulk Hogan, Jimmy snuka and ric flair. When he first started in the NWA days he was young and not overly confident but when the WWF brought him in we saw a whole different side to him. I think the crowd did enjoy him but there were times were he could of even lost some ratings for WWF especially with the whole coconut/snuka incident. Till this day piper is remembered as the Heel and not the face that he was.
8. Bobby Heenan

The Brain has been hated since the start of his wrestling career. From his early days as a wrestler, to his historic managing days in the AWA and most notably in the WWF, Bobby Heenan will be endured as not only one of the greatest heels and managers of all-time, but also as one of the great commentators to ever call a show. One half of what is often referred to as the greatest announce team in wrestling history, with Gorilla Monsoon. He was extrmely irritating at times but when you look back he was great. When he was on the TV he had you in the palm of his hand if you hated him or not.
7. Ted Dibiase

For sure on of the greatest gimmick's the wrestling world has ever seen. it has been copied multiple times with guys like JBL and Robert roode but there was only one million dollar man and that was ted dibiase. Throughout the late 80's and early 90's he was at the top of his game and was having some prtty sweet air time and even though he was hated hugely he could make you laugh. He was funny but he was annoying. If he was used right he would of been WWE champion but then again maybe it was better that he wasnt. After all the $$$ championship fitted him the best.
6. Terry Funk

Teryy Funk May of been a tweener in ECW or even a face in 2006 in WWE but in his main part of his acrrer he was one of the biggest heels there was. Himself and the sheik started hardcore style wrestling and were both hated for it cause it was so different to what they were use to. Terry could cut some top notch promo's and he could get the crowd with him or against him in a single move, ANd he usually got them against him.
5.Gorgeous George Wagner

"The Human Orchid" may be the reason for a lot of the showmanship we have today. No words can really express what this man did for wrestling as a whole, and he may be the most influential wrestler of all time. Even though he was extrmely unbearable and was never cheered for in his carrer

Re: The Instant Classic's top 50 greatest heel's of all time

5-1
5. Mr. McMahon

By Far the Most vicious and undermining promoter of all time. Vince mcmahon started out as a soft pencil neck geek style of guy who really had ntohing going for him expect his commentery role until he brings out this new character 'Mr. Mcmahon". If you have seen his WWE DVD youll understand what i mean. Vince can piss a crowd off like no other man mainly for the soul reason that he has the power to. Even when he gets in the ring he still receieves the most BOO!'s of the night. But hwat i think usually tops it off is his religious iconofary. Especially in 200 with HBK and 'god". they way he would moke god would make wrestling fans sick even if your not religious. He will do anyhting for the buissness and he doesnt give a damn if you love him or hate him.
4. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan

At bash at the Beach 1996 a new cloud was made over the wrestling buissness. It was the debut oof the NWo and the turning of hogan into what we now know as one of the greatest heels in wrestling history. Not many people know this but Hogan actually when he first started was a heel and fueded with andre when andre was a face but he was no where the heel he was In WCW. Hogan Created a faction Known as N.W.O which was full of heel's and lead to be the most dominante stable of all time. They were the D-X alternative and quite honestly made WCW what it is today. Hogan didnt care what you thought he would just go out there and do it one way or the other.
3. The Undertaker

I know some may think WTF. But think about it this way, Is a dead guy really a face style gimmick... NO!!!. Its more of a tweener but to me taker has been a heel his whole carrer. He has the attitude that he doesnt give a damn about you and he will finish it. He never gets booed but when he ever enters the ring he gives you a bad feeling not a good feeling. Also not to add that probably 50% of his carrer he has been a heel. Wheather it was the phenom, the badd ass or the deadman to me he is one of the greatest heels to grace the ring. *This is going to be quite controversial lol*
2. Classie Freddie Blassie

Listen, you pencil necked geeks! Freddie Blassie is your number one heel of all time. You got that! On more than one occasion he was attacked by fans and was beaten, choked and even stabbed. In perhaps the greatest gauge of the rage he provoked from the crowds, a mob of irate fans, after one of his appearances, attacked Blassie's brand new Cadillac, turned it over and lit it on fire. Blassie, true to fashion, sneered at the actions of the "pencil-neck geeks."
“Classy” Freddie Blassie was one of the most despised Superstars the world has ever seen, but in his wake he left behind a legacy of greatness that may never be equaled, and he will forever be known as a true Legend of sports-entertainment.
AND FINALLY NUMBER ONE>>>> DRUM ROLL PLEASE
.
.
.
.
.
1. Ric Flair

In Over Four decades Ric flair has been the top heel of the buissness. He was never extrmely controversial but he would always be disliked. As with heenan he had you int he palm of you hand because he was different. Flair had a reason to be cocky, he had a fresh new look in NWA which he got of buddy rogers and he was just marvellous in the ring. Flair's dirty in ring tactics also helped him get to number one on the list. The Nature Boy never failed to impress in a big match situation also. Towards the late 90s he started to turn into a face which we never saw but it didnt stop there. He was still the same guy in the ring as when he was a face. Eye gouges, low blows you name it he would do it.Ric Flair may be universally loved now, but in his illustrious career, he knew just how to push the audiences buttons. He often gave wrestling fans this piece of advice "whether you like it, or don't like it...learn to love it; cause it's the best going today.” Truer words have never been

HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY TOP 50 HEEL LIST, ANYWAY FEEL FREE TO POST YOUR OPINION ON THE LIST

Hell fucking yeah !! My man, The Undertaker number three !! Ya damn right !!

Awesome post man. You have some good quality posts and this is for sure one of them. Great post dude.

You did a great job with this man.. I wasn't expecting to see wrestlers from the 60's or 70's mentioned.. so all in all, it's a great list.. I don't really have anything bad to say about it, so I'll let others comment on who they think the greatest heels are.

Personally, Flair is a great choice. All you have to do is go back and watch one of his promos from Mid-south in the 80's to understand what a God he truly was. He also delivered in the ring and to a lot of people's surprise.. he won a fair amount of matches, clean.. something that doesn't happen often enough these days.
