Would you give ROH a shot?

ROH is by far the biggest Indy promotion and have a PPV deal. But there missing somthing big and that's a tv deal. My question is would you give them a shot at the big time and give them a deal ?

Do you think the have what it takes, Wrestlers, Feuds, Entertainment to fight against TNA, WWE and ECW. The wouldn't have to be up against them straight away just to be a different option. The more promotions the better i think and if it was me i would for sure give them a deal.

I was thinking about this a while ago when someone asked me what was the most likely to become the clear cut number three. Right now its ROH by default.

I have to say CHIKARA have a better shot tho. The style they use would appeal to a much larger audiance than the ROH style would. ROH have the pure wrestling fans & not a lot else. CHIKARA would appeal to kids aswell as grown ups who want to simply enjoy the show & not have to worry about who the better wrestler is.

Simply put, if CHIKARA had the exposure that ROH has gotten, they would be on TV by now, even if on a kids channel.

In regards to ROH getting a TV Deal, i dont see it happening. Gabe is smarter than that. He knows PPV buyrates are getting lower each month & running a TV Show aswell would cripple them financianlly.

I think they are fine where they're at. That have a great following, I've been to a few ROH shows and even with limited resources they are put together very well.. They sell a great number of DVDs. There's no way that their style would appeal to enough people right away so a tv deal would probably ruin them before they could get their feet off the ground. I agree with God on that.

As far as their PPV deal goes, it'd be nice to see them do a couple LIVE PPVs to see what kind of buyrates they could get but it's damn expensive to do something like that.

But for some reason the have signed a year long deal for more PPV's the most be doing somthing right dude. Ill just have to see how Take no Prisoners goes.

A recent PPV in Canada drew a buy-rate of, wait for it, TWO!!!!

Yes two as in one, two, three. I think its safe to assume Canadian TV providers wont be lining up to offer a deal.

Where you get this info from? And that's Canada, it must not have scared them off because there having a live show there soon.

CHIKARA is just too indy for a mainstream audience to accept. They focus more on comedy than wrestling which is fine, but the humour is very tongue in cheek to wrestling fans. Plus thier shows are more geared towards the live crowds than the people who watch it at home on their screens.



As for ROH I'd say it's most definately worth giving them a shot. Over here in the UK they have a slot on the wrestling channel. Granted, it's like the sam 20 shows from 2006 repeated over and over, but its still a slot. ROH has great entertainment value as well as wrestling. It'll never get as big as tna or wwe, but it coud easily reach ECW-like status.

All it needs is a chance that's what im saying. If it gets this and it fails then that's it, it can go back to doing what its doing now, but if the successful then there's only good things for ROH

I believe that if they got TV then they would find it hard not to end up like ECW, too small to be big and too big to be small.

I'm not suggesting that this will always be the case, but certainly this is how I feel about their product at this time.

They are successful at what they do in a niche market, now is not the time to be looking to increase your costs substantially and branch out into areas that will require more funding and more expense before potentially gaining you the rewards you'll need.

As I just watched there first PPV tonight I loved it and wish they would have a tv spot. But I dont know if any one would broadcast there show's. But I loved every minute of the matches that I watched and im turning into a fan.
