Kenny King and Jason Blade over Pelle Primeau and Eddie Edwards
Such a hot opener. Waaaay better than expected for what seems like it would be a post-intermission "popcorn match". Edwards has lost a lot of size, but is still really solid, and deserves a spot on the roster. Match went about 9 minutes (mistimed slightly). ***
The Haze over Alexa Thatcher
Nothing much to speak of here. Decent enough, kept very short. The haze took a siiiick german suplex bump. Match went 4:08. *3/4
Claudio over Ruckus Some idiots behind me got on ruckus's case for absolutely no reason. Said idiots continued to annoy the front row of section C throughout the show. Good enough match. Fun, but nothing spectacular. Ruckus got in most of his usual stuff. Match went 10 minutes even. ***
Uncle Larry & Co. came out for a segment. Fun stuff, with tons of Bobby Dempsey chants. PUSH THIS MAN. Puder defeated some jobber that wasn't even a student in 26 seconds. Just a few punches and a leg lock ended it. Dragon then came out to challenge puder. SnS Inc was then run off by claudio.
Dragon over Albright
Fantastic build. Albright worked the arm the whole match to set up for the crowbar. One of several reasons to buy this DVD. Match went 18:49. ****
Steen over Necro
Reason number 2 to buy this DVD. Best Boston brawl besides the steenerico vs briscoes street fight. Steen missing the flip to the outside and crashing through 3, count em, 3 chairs on the floor was the spot of the night. Steen wins with a BRUTAL chairshot, ball kick, and package piledriver on a chair. Match went 14:58. ****
Delirious over Sal Rinaro
pretty good for a post-intermission match. Nothing much to mention besides delirious hitting on the really really young, yet hot looking girls that came out with Sal. Match went 9:56. **3/4
Strong over Generico Expected this one to go a little longer, but still good. Crowd was all over Roddy, as expected. Strong wins with the usual backbreaker, gut buster, gibson driver combo. Match went 11:21. ***1/2
Stevens over Aries
Reason number 3 to get this DVD. This was the best of the night, slightly beating the main event as the match of the night. Aries played the heel here. The crowd was about 60-40 in favor of Aries at first, but Stevens proved his worth in ROH by winning everyone over. I was shocked that after the double countout that they continued. It seemed like it was booked as the easy way out, so it was great that they continued. I litterally had no idea who was going to win it once the match got started. So many great false finishes. Stevens deserves all the credit in the world, despite some guy sitting right behind me saying Erick Stevens is the worst wrestler of all time. Match went 20:05. ****1/4
Age of the fall win Ultimate Endurance - over Briscoes in the final fall.
Reason number 4 to buy this DVD. Wild wild stuff here. Too much action to even attempt to recap. The spike staredown between BJ and Jimmy was amazing. The ladder spot was all kinds of awesome. Just get this DVD. Match went 19:48. **** - ****1/4 ( kind of on the fritz about the rating)
all in all, this show completely blew away my expectations. If all goes well, ROH has a new top star in Erick Stevens.
Unless this guy overrated (Which he did by prefessional standards) by a lot this looks to be a good show as RoH are still trying to get back in the right direction since losing so many big names to TNA & WWE.
