Yeah, excellent use of our tax dollars, right there, 60k+ security!!!!
....because the increased tax revenue 3 million people will bring to the city surely won't offset the wages of the security officers....
Furthermore, a large part of that will be paid for (or reimbursed) by Obama's inauguration fund, which is comprised completely of donations, not tax dollars.

Um, call me crazy...but I would think that having security for the leader of the free world is kinda important. Especially when 2 million people or more will be there to see it happen.

Could happen, and if it did it would set the whole world back so many years.
Would be terrible if it happened, but it is foolish to rule it out. Security is one thing, but they can't protect against every possible eventuality. If somebody was willing to get on stage and shoot Dimebag Darrell, I think there is going to be some racist redneck who is angry enough that a black man is in charge of his beloved US of A to want to kill Obama.

I just find it ridiculous that the inaguration would cost over 150 million dollars when Obama is talking about fixing the economy. Way to show you're ready to make a change

Well, some money is allocated for the inaugural process to begin with.
Other money will be paid by what Obama raised to run for President which can be used for nothing else.
He can use that money he raised or allocate it to other Democrats to run for office. Those are the rules.

i'm more worried about how much influence and effectiveness he will have with his new responsibilities, than the unlikely event that he will be assassinated.

Yeah, they said the population in DC tippled today because of all the happenings. So that would easily pay for everything. As for the assassination thing, it will probably be tried a few times, but I will go out on a limb and say he will have buffed up security wherever he goes.
