I would have to say that it is good that they post all their information on the internet so people can find out where they live. Of course, there will always be some nuts taht will use that info to hunt them down like animals and kill them because of finding the information but I think overall it is worth it. I seen on the news how people are saying that the sex offenders info shouldn't be on there to protect their privacy. I do not understand how you could say that when you could have one living next to you and not know it but if they post their info you will know and can look out to make sure they don't do anything. Plus they need to put tracking devices on them also so they can monitor them if they are repeat offenders IMO. I love when these groups will claim that they should have rights, yea they should but did they care about the rights of the people they did sick shit too? No, they violated them. Discuss.

Yeah, I don't really know if they should post this information on the net for anyone to see. Maybe they could set something up where the offenders have to notify the police if they are moving and then the police can alert the community.

Yeah, they already have that and a lot of these sex offenders don't bother to tell the police when they move.

Well, I guess the alternative is to post their adress and let some crazy people hunt them down like animals and murder them.

There has to be some middle ground here.

What you suggested is what they already have, when a sex offender moves into a neighborhood with kids they notify people in the area. I don't hear much about anybody doing anything to them, but the neighbors do sometimes harass them to get them to move.

I saw on the news the other day I think it was in Massachusetts, a Canadian guy looked up some sex offenders addresses from the web site the state has up and went to their house and killed them. That was what I was talking about.

If a sex offender's address is up on a web site and they decide to move without telling the authorities, it would be the same situation you are talking about. Not really much you can do in that situation.

That was also a crazy man who killed the sex offenders. And that crazy man could have killed anyone, and he just happened to stumble upon those individuals. If not them, it would have been someone else most likely.

I think it's a good idea. Especially if I had children, I would like to know if there is anyone living near me I should keep my eye on.

I agree. I want to know what's going on in my neighberhood. Less then 10 years ago I'd say I knew everyone on my street but now it's rediculous. My town no longer has that "warm" feeling about it.. Nobody wants to be friendly or introduce themselves so I need a way to find out exactly who these people are. I have a little nephew and my friend's kid who spend a lot of time over the house.

I see your point Erin. But I think that there is a better way in which the people that need to be notified to protect their kids can be without posting it for everyone to see.

I would still like to know. I have a friend from elementary school who's dad raped and murdered a woman in her own home, and is serving life in prision. Apparently he had done it before when he used to live in the states, and somehow fleed to Canada and started a new life. Anyways, the terrfying thing is, the night it happened I was staying over at his house.

That really scared my parents, and it still freaks me out a bit. I want to know if there is anything going on in my neighbourhood.
