Did you know that over the course of a year, over 500 people will kill themselves? Many people kill themselves by hanging, shooting, cutting or injecting house hold cleaners into themselves. Of course each of the common ways of suicide comes with a ton of pain. However, in some states of America leathal injection is used to kill off criminals. Lethal injuection is also used to kill animals, it is known as "Putting them to sleep."
Some people argue that it is not natural to die before nature tells you to. However, governments all over the free world spend millions of dollars on machines to keep people alive beyond when nature tells them to. Personally speaking, my who career is focused on keeping the public alive. Now with that being said, I find it kind of ignorant that we as a society try to keep people alive long past their due date and no one has a problem with it, but when someone wants to end their life, a huge debate starts. If someone wants to kill themselves, they will find a way. Assisted suicide is just a pain free way of ending their life.My question to the members of WS is, should assisted suicide be provided through the hospitals and should it be as legal as trying to keep a loved one alive?
I agree mostly with you. It's hypocisy at its finest that keeping someone alive on life support is ok, but euthanasia(sp?) is "playing God".
However, you have to think deeper into this. How can you confirm that the person really wants to die. They could be clinically insane. There are alot of other variables. How do you prevent it being against their will, etc.
Its a complicated issue, but I guess it wouldn't be thread worthy if it wasn't.
I believe that is someone wants to die then they should be allowed to. It is part of being alive. You can do what you want. If you want to end your life then that is your decision. I do think there are complications such as what Steve said. Insanity and determining whether people are sane enough to make such a decision.
In general though, yeah... assisted suicide isn't a bad thing.

After my dad did it, I could never assist in a suicide. I don't care what people say because no matter what situation you have, there is a meaning in that person's life. There's no way around it. Everybody has a real meaning and a purpose. If they have a how, they can get through any why.
