War cannot be stopped. It is an instrument a society will always have to stop something they do not wish to happen.
If we didn't have war, if we didn't have hate, if we didn't have beleifs and principals, we'd never be able to call ourselves human. Nuclear weapons are not evil, we cannot call an instrument we create that causes devastation and death evil. To ad on to that, how can we justify whats evil and whats not? How can we ever justify evil when all of us have done something that, in most peoples mind, is considered evil? Hitler in World War 2 slaughtered millions of Russians and Jew's because they were "evil", and because of that, he is branded evil because of his beleifs. The American military dropped two Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagaski, that killed millions of Japanese civilians... can we justify that as evil? Both were very different, and beleive me I'm not comparing either, however both cases led to innocent people being killed, does that justify... evil?
A society will do everything it can to protect its people, its family, because thats what the people turn to society for, protection. Its what the German people did, its what the American people did, its what Russian people did with Communism.
To me, evil is just a concept created by people who cannot accept the lengths a government will take to protect there people. To finish, Nuclear weapons are not evil... and never will be, they are made and used to strike fear into other nations... they will be used, no one can stop that. When your on the brink of destruction, you use the biggest weapon you have, to protect your people.
The only time I see the point in nuclear weapons are when the opposing side won't reason with the ones trying to make peace. Hiroshima is a perfect example, the Chinese (or Japanese, I forget) wouldn't reason with the States and this is what it took. Well, a couple nukes, actually.
But that's from your perspective, it was the Japanese, and they most likely saw the Americans as being unreasonable, so wouldn't that have given them the right to attack the US.
Al-Qaeda sees the (lets being vague) Western World as being unreasonable, Hamas sees Israel as being unreasonable. Personally I see the fucken Aussies as unreasonable so by your logic I (if I acquire a nuke) and all of these other groups are allowed to use nuclear warfare.
It is very hard to judge who is the peacemaker and who is the trouble maker. And really every country in a war sees themselves as peacemakers of some sort. When ethnic cleansing occurs the ones killing see themselves as helping the world become better by riding it of a group of people who have done bad things and cannot be trusted to live.

Wasnt the nuke dropped on Japan after Pearl Harbour with no American talks or warnings after Pearl Harbour and prior to the bomb dropping?
My only theory of stopping war, and yes its a ridiculous dream, is to scrap this economy stuff and have labour as a necessity to life. So pretty much that means everyone has the same thing as someone else with their beliefs or interests.
An example is... Say Suffy and I being into videogames, but only supporting Microsoft Xbox and hockey & first person shooter games. Then we both get the same consol model and the same games shipped to us.
People at Microsoft wouldnt be working for economical status, now they would be working simply because they are interested in their field and the product they create entertains millions.
Now the jealousy is gone out the window when it comes to the free world and the muslim world can live in the prehistoric caves or whatever they wish if they choose to do so based on their economical / personal wants and religious beliefs.

Pearl Harbor happened December 7th, 1941.
The Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs were dropped to end the war somewhere at the end of 1944 or 1945.
The Japanese were defeated and would not surrender. The Americans could either invade Japan and lose who knows how many more American lives or nuke them into surrendering.
The Japanese are known to never give up so it took something very substantial for them to surrender. The war was lost and they were still fighthing. Very unfortunate.
