Well that's an extremely easy question to answer: Firstly, they should be treated humanely because....it's the law. No matter what they did, the U.S. government needs to
at the least follow its own damn laws. If torture is illegal, then you don't do it, and that should be the end of the discussion. No "what ifs", no hypothetical justifications. You can't uphold the law and break it at the same time.
Secondly, the people
suspected of inhumane acts should be treated humanely because suspicion does not equal guilt. That's kind the whole point behind our justice system, due process, habeus corpus, etc.

Obviously, you don't want just anyone going in there, but c'mon now, these people (and I mean terrorists, not any other group of individuals) have no respect for any life at all, yet we're supposed to respect theirs?
|
The only thing we really need to respect is the law. If the government had such a high level of conviction in their belief that these people are automatically "terrorists" as you do, then there should be no problem formally filing charges against them and giving them a trial.

It shouldn't be easy to make it into a place like this, definitely, but, in the same respect, the people in there shouldn't be afforded any luxuries, such as rights.

I'm not sure how old you are or what your level of education is, but it's pretty clear that you're missing some of the basics behind why and how this country was founded. If you take a quick glance at our Declaration Of Independence or the U.S. Constitution, you'd see this thing mentioned called
INALIENABLE RIGHTS. One of them happens to be trial by jury. It's there in the Constitution, The Federalist Papers, The Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, and literally
EVERY state constitution.
We do not consider these luxuries. They are not mere privileges that can be taken away when someone determines you don't deserve them anymore. That's what makes them inalienable. If you can't grasp this fundamental truth, then I'm afraid you have an extremely warped view on what this country is, and what it was meant to be.
