Re: Athiest in Heaven?
I'm a Christian, raised as a Methodist, but I don't believe the word of the Bible is Gospel. I have tremendous respect for all the major religous texts, whether it's the Torah, the Koran, the Bible, whatever. To me, the Bible is, essentially, an account of things that happened. They're stories that were told to someone, who were told to someone, who were told to someone, who were told to somone, who, if you go far enough back, was actually there. And I'm sure down the years stories have been adapted, and changed, and grown, like an enormous game of chinese whispers, but I do believe that in the end, the basic eddicts are solid.
I believe in God, and I believe that Jesus was his son, given to us to free us from sin, but I personally don't believe that any branch of Christianity has got it quite right. I think a lot of the time they get to wrapped in dogmatic trends to see the basic fact that all God really wants us to be is to be good human beings, and treat each other with the respect that we were born with.
So yes, regardless of the actual text in the Bible, I believe that any good person will make their way to heaven.

What have you ever done for religion? If you just disregard religion and be an athiest it'd be silly to expect anything from it, tbh.
What have I done for religion...hmm...I was baptised into a catholic church, I had to sit through years of propaganda and preaching at school... To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When theres no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
Well there is your problem. Don't look into religion. Just look for a person relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the one who died for you. Not Religion.

He is the one that was murdered over his beliefs, he didn't have a choice in the matter.
I'm agnostic, and I believe the power of religion forces men to do destructive things.

I consider myself an atheist however I'm not one who says "oh my god you believe you suck blah blah". You don't force your beliefs on me, and I won't force mine on you.

Well here is how I see religion. The 10 commandments were nothing more than guidlines. Humans function off of instinct and knowledge based from outcome. For example, if we are not supposed to commit adultery, then why do we have instincts that tell us the man or woman, who is not our spouse, is hot? If you believe in God then you should also believe that God created us with such functions, it was all a part of the human design. The point of religion for me is to make mistakes and learn from them. We are all going to commit sin, but after seeing the effect of it, will we continue or try to restrain ourselves?
As for believing in God, I think everyone in the end believes in God for the simple fact that it is better to be safe than sorry. I have yet to read a bible passage that states you have to follow the teachings of God down to the last letter. I have read passages that state we are like sheep and we will wander, but in the end God will find us and we will come back to the herd. ( Safe than sorry) In the end I believe that you can go through your life denying God, but on your death bed you'll be thinking about God.
I myself believe in God, but I have yet to accept him as my lord and saviour. There are just so many wrongs in the world that could be stopped by a God if one were to exist. The Jews were slaves and God helped Moses free them, yet there is still slavery to this day. Innocent people are starving because their government refuses to provide them with the basics of life and instead decides to send out violent milicias to commit mass genocide, yet there are no signs of God. I do question how bad things have to get before God makes a special appearance. The last time he was sick of humanities curruption he flooded the planet. I'm pretty sure this age is worse than it was back then in the age of sticks and rocks, yet nothing. I suppose you can say I believe in a God, but if I were to ever meet this God, I'd try and take out his eye with a rusty spoon.
