Since I know we have some hardcore republicans (looking at you Doom lol) what are your opinions on the death penatly.
Dude, I'm not a Republican, I'm a Libertarian and now you know and knowing is half the battle.
Back to the conversation. There's no need to get rid of the death penalty. If someone commits multiple murders and other heinous acts to go with it, that person doesn't deserve to live. Life in prison won't matter one bit.

Eh, I think it should be in place still. If someone does something so bad as to killing several others I think they should be sentenced to death, whether it be the chair or lethal injection. In my opinion those people don't deserve to live.
Life in prison is a far better punishment than letting them get the easy way out.
It's a shame life in prison rarely ever is the case, certainly never over here. This week an 18 year old got sentenced to 22 fucking years for killing a little kid in a drive-by.
I'd rather see life in prison be implemented, but death penalty would be better than nothing. I believe in an eye, seems only fair.
Not because of any moral reason, but merely from a financial stand point. It costs much more to put put someone to death. You have so many legal fees it is ridiculous.
I say get rid of it and save money. It is cheaper for someone to serve life in prison than to kill them.

But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "couldn’t be done," and you’ll do it.

^Actually, imo cutting costs and saving money is what is wrong with a lot of places now. The price of putting someone to death may cost more but, what good is saving money if it is just going to be wasted on useless things that only appease those in office. And yes... I am speaking from too many damn personal experiences.
Back on topic: I am actually all for the death penalty. If someone takes the life of another person then they should have to pay for that crime with their own lives.

I don't have a problem with the person being put to death, I have a problem with all the legal fees involved. No reason for a bunch of lawyers to get a big payday for no reason.
Let them rot in jail.

An eye for an eye indeed. I think that if you commit murder, you should be murdered via the death penalty.
In addition, I think it would clear up space in an overcrowded jail enviornment. I have to believe it would cost less to send someone to the chair then for all of us to pay taxes to keep those people in jail (some for 80 years+ when you think about it). All the costs that go along with feeding them 3 times a day for all those years, clothes, grooming, etc etc must be less than a death penalty (a one-time event).
I've read on the news how people sentenced had to change facilities, some to a minimum-security prison, because the place they were supposed to be sent to was overcrowded. I bet if they took those murderers sentenced to life and gave them the death penalty, that would clear up a lot of space for those people that need to be in the maximum security prisons.
I understand the "make them suffer" arguement, but either way, death penalty or life, they are gone from society forever right? Why should we have to pay for those scum to sit in a rotting cell for all those years?
