So not that winter is in full effect it seems, it's time to dust off those board games and get out the playing cards. Unless you're the type who only plays video games, then disregard this thread.
What board games do you enjoy playing now? Maybe you can give us a brief description of how it's played for those looking to try new ones (ie: me). Maybe you have a favorite as a kid, like Crocker with "CandyLand" that you'd like to share so we can all make fun of you.
How about cards, do you enjoy playing them? What games do you fancy? Anyone up for a game of strip poker?
Unless you're the type who only plays video games, then disregard this thread.
At least this thread will garner no replies then.
I actually love board games for some reason, but never really play any cause noone else loves them. I also wouldn't limit their playing ability to winter??
I enjoy the occassional drinking card game such as Kings, Ring of Fire, etc also.
Oh and there's a £10 entry tournament at my halls every two weeks for Poker which I've played in a couple of times. I got a £50 prize one week To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Lets see...the main ones we play are; cribbage with us being only three in the family we usually play 2 vs 1.
wizard; it's a little hard to explain but it's one of those trump games where you get a hand guess how many times you can have the highest card and then lay one card down at a time and must follow suit...lol,
double seqence is another I'm sure if you google it you could find out about it, it's super easy and fun.
Rumy: Rumy along with 13 hand Rumy, you try to discard all your cards through ways such as runs of the same suit, or three of a kind and there is always a card that is "wild" such as deuces.
That's about it occasionally someone in my family will find out a new game and we'll play that.

Yeah PS, I don't only play board games in the winter, but it seems I play them more often then because we are forced to stay inside.
A fun board/card game my friends and I play is called "Apples to Apples". Has anyone ever played it? Basically, everyone is dealt 7 red cards, which each have a noun written on them: so a person, place, thing, or event. The dealer for the round turns over a green card, which is an adjective card. So, for example, it will say "smelly".
Everyone else but the dealer must look through their cards and turn the one they think the dealer will pick as most "smelly". They had them in anonimously to the dealer and the dealer picks. Winner gets to keep the green card. Get 5 green cards and you win. Now, it sounds cheesy, but trust me there are funny red cards such as "Britney Spears" "Adolf Hitler", "Sausages", etc that, when played, elicit some good laughs.
As for card games, we really enjoy playing Euchre. For whatever reason it's more popular here in Michigan than other places in the States (maybe it was created there?) To those that don't know, it's another one of those "trump" games.
My friends usually host a "Euchre Tournament" once a year with 16 people. You rotate partners and play 8 hands per game, and total your points. Winner usually gets a nice pot of money at the end. Usually a small prize for last place as well just for kicks.
My gf loves those board games like Cranium and shit like that. She actually had some "game night" at her house a few weeks ago, it was pretty fun. s for card games (poker aside) I like either Hi Lo Jack, or Skip Bo.

You can't beat Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit for board games, as for cards I play poker at least once a week and back in the day I used to play crash, crib and chase the ace.
Trivial Pursuit is greatness, there's a new "25th anniversary" edition out that I want to get. I have many memories the past few years staying up tile 3am with a bunch of friends playing that game. Good times.
Usually when the family and I get together we play apples to apples...which is a great game and everyone gets involved. It's a nice game to play when all the Christmas festivities are over and everyone just wants to sit down and have a good time. We always have a huge tray of different cookies on the middle of the table too.
Me and my friends play Presidents and Assholes for a card game. I just got into it, but it's not a game you play around your family.
It is really fun if you can get a bunch of people together to play board games. That is hard to do around here anymore though. My brother lives 3 and a half hours away.
