Does the legality of something make it not despicable?
Coca-Cola can buy out hundreds of small companies, just to put them out of business or turn them into Coca-Cola factories, legally. It's still despicable. It's the big bad guy picking on the little guy, in that case, and it's despicable.
Taking power without a vote is evil. We should at least put a vote to it.
Re: Coalition Government with NDP and Liberals (Canadian Politics)
They were voted in though...over 60% of the people who voted did not vote Con, they voted for a left wing government (for argument sake lets call the Libs left wing) we do not vote for a Prime Minister (unless you live in Harper's riding) we vote for individual candidates who if their party has enough seats will form a government, the cons do not have a majority so they can be taken over because only 40% of people who voted did vote for them.
As for you coke example that's just capitalism.

Re: Coalition Government with NDP and Liberals (Canadian Politics)
Well, yes the NDP and Liberals individually make up 60%, as you say.
But what voter has voted for the Liberals and the NDP combined? NONE. No one has voted for the coalition, they have voted seperately for them, but combined, no votes. Having a party with no votes having the leader being Prime Minister? Stupid idea.
Re: Coalition Government with NDP and Liberals (Canadian Politics)
But we vote for people to represent us and those Liberal, NDP and Bloc MP's believe it is in the best interest of those they represent to join forces and form a government.

Re: Coalition Government with NDP and Liberals (Canadian Politics)
In all interest, I believe that having political parties merging with one and other is giving people "less hope" in a sense, the whole point in voting is to choose who you want to run your country, if they are all together, how can you do such a thing? What if you comepletely disagree with what a certain party says? then your up shit creek without a paddle.
But, to be fair, I genuinely hate politics and voting, it doesent matter how much you vote it'll never change anything, they all lie to you, then end up going mental, resulting to alcoholism and getting charged with some sort of child buggery, just like the church.
Basically, this post lacks any evidence, but I couldn't care less, I thought it was valid for me to make my point clear.

And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When theres no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
Re: Coalition Government with NDP and Liberals (Canadian Politics)
Well for one right now we have 5 major political parties and 4 of them lean left so if two of them merge it's not the end of the world as there would still be (hypothetically) the NDLiberals, the Bloc (only in Quebec) and the Green.
And I'm not sure how this isn't understood they were voted in, just like the conservatives MP's decide to vote together to form a government, the Liberals, NDP and Bloc who were all voted in have decided to vote together...

No offense to any Canadians here, but your political parties sound like attitude-era pro wrestling stables.
'The Bloc'? 'The Coalition'?

Anyway, I don't think a coalition government is all that bad of an idea. It's what U.S. politicians like to pretend we have (with all the B.S. talk about "reaching across the aisle" and whatnot). Though they are not labeled as coalitions, that's basically what our Congress and Supreme Court are ideally supposed to be. But I guess the biggest factor that keeps the States from truly having a coalition government is that almost everything gets filtered into the two strongest parties, and they happen to be polar opposites. Such is the biggest flaw with a two-party system; it forces us to basically go all or nothing. I would cherish a coalition-like government.
