Obama is busy picking his cabinet members and going to the White House to meet Bush, yet news channels act like Palin "defending herself" is an important story. It's honestly just making Republicans look worse and worse. You would think having your ass handed to you in an election would invoke some soul searching on their part and provide an opportunity for some introspection so that they can learn from their mistakes, BUT NO! It's all about kicking the blame around like a beach ball. No one wants to have their image tainted by what happened Tuesday.
SARCASTIC NEWSFLASH: you all look like tools, especially Palin, and trying to play the blame game only makes you look even more pathetic.
What I cannot wait for is when she runs for presidency (because she will) and I cannot wait for her to go up against Hilary Clinton or Michelle Obama they will tear her a new one. If people thought she looked stupid against Biden imagine 3 debates against intellects like Clinton or Female Obama.

Slightly related, in the news today it was reported some producer offered her €1.5million to star in a porn movie now that she isnt going to be vice-president or whatever she would have been. Her husband meanwhile got offered a new snowmobile to co-star. If that ever happened, would you watch it?

The reason I said Michelle DD is that a friend of the Obama's who is also a prof at some university said that Michelle was always the one with higher political goals than Barack and that he figured she'd run after he left office.

Hilary is already the next president in 2016 unless Obama fucks it up and is out in 4. Mark it down.
...remember how absolutely no one knew who Obama was before the 2004 RNC convention? Then remember how he just won the presidency last week? Yeah.
Who is to say that that can't happen again? We are 8 full years from 2016, and only one week removed from an election that proved that nothing is automatic.

Pickin' Palin (I'm not proud of that) was a failed political stunt that McCain pulled (much like "suspending" his campaign for a day to go to Washington to save the country) in hopes to win temporarily disenfranchised Clinton supporters who just wanted to see a woman in the White House. He was hoping people would be stupid enough not to realize or care that Palin was the complete opposite of Clinton politically.

Now, if I plainly respond to this part of your post, you're going say that it was obvious, so I'll preempt myself by saying that it should be obvious that:
Palin wasn't vetted and her qualifications (political or intellectual) weren't taken into consideration. All the McCain campaign saw was that she was a woman (zOMG, jus lyk Hilareee!), and that she was mildly attractive. They thought that those characteristics alone would give them some sort of benefit vote-wise.
