"Barack Obama was programmed for years by his Muslim father "
I love that, if you read anything published about Obama's life, you'd know he met his father once before he died in 1988.
That'd be some epic programming....
Helluva post Giganto, this garbage is exactly what's wrong with this country. If you don't like the man, that's fine, but at least give some credible reasons why instead of making up some radical nonsense like this.

Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
Thanks GD
As a man who's marrying into a Muslim family, I'm incredibly offended by the insinuation in that article that Muslims are inherently evil, and the fact that he has a Muslim father means he can't be trusted.
There are over a billion Muslims in the world. Some of them are very very bad people. Most of them are peaceful, hard-working, loving individuals.

Unfortunately that is what's wrong with America right now, because some idiots decide to attack other countries with no reason, they're all like that.

Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
McCain's camp knows they can't beat Obama on policy. They know Barack Obama has better ideas and a better vision for this country. They know the only slight chance they have of winning is digging up dirt on Obama that has NOTHING to do with the election.
What McCain's camp does not realize is that America is tired of negativity. We have dealt with negativity most of the last 8 years. We are looking for someone that has a vision for American and has a positive outlook.
McCain's camp has made a catastrophic mistake in the negative campaigning and I believe that Obama will win by a significant amount.

Well said Dak
The fact that McCain's campaign has looked like a witchunt reflects quite poorly on him.
And that's a shame, because all things considered I think McCain is a good man. But whoever has been advising him has made some serious missteps. In particular, I think the Palin selection has backfired.
Obama chose a running mate who lacks in charisma, but would be a good man for the job.
McCain chose a charismatic running mate to help him get elected, but not necessarily the best person for the job. And I think many Americans saw through that.
One of my friends from work put it best when he said "I wish McCain had been the Republican candidate 8 years ago." I think McCain is a good politician who was put in the unenviable position of running against this incredibly charismatic candidate, following an absolute travesty of a president in his own party

Some people are just going to freak out. Some people have been coming in the store and buying canned food swearing there is going to be a race riot.
Exact quotes here from some customers:
"If Obama loses the black people will riot. If Obama wins he is going to be against white people. I am buying up canned food cause you never know what might happen!"
"If Obama wins he will get assassinated within 6 months and black people will riot. It is going to tear this country apart."

I hate the South..........Such ignorant idiots.
BTW. I voted for McCain.
Well Sir, with all due respect I am from the South and I take offense to that.
Don't group people like me in with racist idiots.
Thanks. Bai.
BTW: I voted for change. I voted for Barack Obama.

There are over a billion Muslims in the world. Some of them are very very bad people. Most of them are peaceful, hard-working, loving individuals.
and what really shouldn't matter is what that ratio even is. I don't care if we came to the conclusion that 99% of Muslims were evil. That still doesn't say anything about Barack Obama because: A) He's NOT muslim; B) Even if here were, he and his character still needs to be judged individually, not grouped together with any associations he may have, be it religious or otherwise.
This is largely why I've never bought into the 'guilt by association' bull that Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and other MSM voices have been propping up. I'm not a liberal, but I've always been extremely tolerant. I believe you can still coexist with people even if you disagree with them on something. This whole equivocation business of linking Obama to the views expressed by some people he knows is, in my opinion, a desperate attempt to find fault in him because, as has been made clear, if this were just about policies alone, this would have never even been a competition.
Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
Word is.. McCain was set to announce Lieberman as his running mate but the GOP threw a shit fit and hand picked Palin to 'jump start the Republican base.'
I know this is old news but it shows just how poorly ran, desperate, and unorganized his campaign has been but also how he's sold out completely since 2000. It's unfortunate.
I voted for Obama today. Connecticut was a sure state for him regardless, but I feel it's my duty to participate in the election if I'm going to participate in discussions such as these.
McCain chose a charismatic running mate to help him get elected, but not necessarily the best person for the job. And I think many Americans saw through that.
I think you're right. I didn't expect most American's to see through it like they did, and debated with Assassin with it for multiple rounds.
