I have to agree. Something about Obama scares the shit out of me and although I think he's a intelligent man, he's surely not suited for the Presidency. I'll vote McCain simply because he is more experienced and a vet and I don't have another choice that's better than the two imo.
Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
Back on topic, I work until five and then I'll probably watch the coverage at home with a few friends until it looks like Obama is in the clear (fingers crossed). Then I'm going to school, where the entire university is having a huge fucking party.
Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
# He's hands-down the most pro-homosexual candidate in history, promising to back virtually the entire radical "gay rights" agenda, including the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, essentially throwing open the door to gay marriage in all 50 states. And, as he proclaims in his "open letter to the LGBT community": "I have also called for us to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell." That will allow and encourage overt homosexuality throughout the armed forces, something military experts have long maintained will destroy the very fabric of America's armed services.
# Sounds bad for Judeo-Christian values, you say? Dr. James Dobson's influential Focus on the Family organization analyzed issue after issue and predicts – are you ready for this? – "hardship," "persecution" and "suffering" as the fate of Christians if Obama becomes president.
No wonder three out of four CEOs of American companies say Obama would be a disaster.
# Obama alone will be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory in Iraq. He is so weak, inexperienced and narcissistic, he will reflexively appease our nation's enemies and thereby encourage the growth of evil the world over. Millions will suffer as a direct result.
Lets address these poitns because they are easiest.
He is not pro-gay marriage he does not say ever let gays get married, he says that in his books and in his speeches, so wrong.
He is christian so second point wrong.
No wonder CEO's don't like him because he will directly tax their asses because they make far too much in the first place, so instead of buying 4 yatchs they'll only be able to afford 3 life's so hard for thsoe poor ceo's, and guess what if they decide to move away he'll tax they'll asses so much when they try to sell stuff back here.
He wants to pull troops from Iraq and put them in Afghanistan and try to find the man who directly caused your suffering on 9/11, he is just putting the troops where they should have been all along.

Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
I'm not sure why we needed ANOTHER thread about the election when we already had two, but yeah, BO08.
It's going to be hilarious tonight when everyone on Fox News loses their shit after Obama wins in a landslide. I saw a Rev. Wright commercial last night and I just started laughing. Not only has McCain said that Rev. Wright was off limits, but his imbecilic GOP associates waited until the night before the election to bring the subject back up. Seriously, do they actually expect to win with such ridiculous strategies? The Rev. Wright issue didn't stop Obama in the spring during the primaries, and it's certainly not going to stop him now.
McCain's campaign has been one of the most unorganized clusterfucks I've ever seen in politics.

I didn't realize that everyone in America is pro-life and pro-limited government. Silly me.

Yes, those are some bad dudes. Well, not the communist, but whatever. Anyway, the point I want to make is that Barack Obama has probably associated with hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people in his lifetime. If you look into ANYBODY's past deep enough, you'll find some shady characters that they associate with.
I'm roughly half Obama's age, and I've associated with lots of bad people. People who sell drugs. People who openly use racial slurs. I'm sure some of them have very radical political opinions. I try to distance myself from these people, but to say that I've NEVER associated with these people would be a lie. I should be judged on my own character, not on the character of the people around me, and Obama should receive the same treatment.

After all, in past presidential contests, Americans have flatly rejected ultraliberal candidates like McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis
So, I guess the U.S. public is not allowed to change their opinions? If you voted conservative int he past, you MUST vote conservative every election for the rest of your life.

How DARE he have an opinion on abortion?!?!?! I mean, this is such a cut-and-dry issue that has NEVER been debated before! He'll go totally against what EVERYONE in America wants. I mean, there can't possibly anyone who's actually pro-choice, is there?

The Obama News Network

A third factor is the incomprehensibly unprofessional way the news media have behaved during the 2008 election. In my estimation, we basically don't have a free press in America any more, other than the "New Media" – that is, talk radio, the Internet and some cable TV. Most of the rest of the establishment media have pretty much committed suicide this year.
It's obviously not Obama's policies or his charisma. It's not a reflection ont he party of the worst President in US history. It's not the financial collapse or the endless, pointless war that has killed thousands and thousands of bright young Americans.
IT'S THE LIBERAL MEDIA!!!!!!!! BURN CNN TO THE GROUND!!!!

This is exactly what we have in the so-called "mainstream press" today. The New York Times and NBC News, for example, are not true news organizations any more. They've become political and cultural activist organizations pretending to do news. And after having dropped all pretense at fairness this year, everyone knows it. This is why they're more concerned about Joe the plumber's tax bill than about the election being stolen by ACORN – because the elite media have become nothing more nor less than the propaganda ministry and attack dogs for Barack Obama.

Obama, the Manchurian candidate

In the classic 1962 movie thriller "The Manchurian Candidate," a man was programmed by communist handlers, and then emerged into the public arena as a hero, with a largely manufactured history, large parts of which were either obscured or changed. Ah, ok. I'm going to vote for John McCain based on a fictional movie. Actually, I'm gonna vote for him because his name sounds like the main character from Die Hard. And if German terrorists ever try to take over the Nagatoki Building in Los Angeles, I trust John McCain to push that kraut out a top-story fucking wondow.

Re: The Official 2008 Presidential Election Thread!
Triple post ftw.
But on the whole experience issue, do people not realize that there is no class you can take be president? One cannot major in "presidency" in college. I don't think anyone is ever truly qualified to be president, because it's based almost solely on the intangibles. Experience doesn't substantially affect how one would govern. The fallacy here implies that if George W. Bush could run for a third term,he would be the frontrunner because he has 8 years of actual experience, so he must be the best choice, right?
To use a sports analogy, this is like saying that you are certain that a particular football team that has gone 0-16 in the past 8 seasons is going to suddenly win the Superbowl because they just hired a veteran, experienced head coach who plans to use the exact same offensive schemes as the last coach. No acknowledgment of how much the team has sucked in recent years. No acknowledgment that the new coach has never had any success and that the philosophy he employs has been completely fruitless for that team. Lets just assume that because this new coach is old and has experience in the sport that this team should be our pick to win the championship.
Sound ridiculous? That's the exact argument conservatives use when they attempt to make an issue of Obama being inexperienced. Being experienced doesn't guarantee that you'll always make the right choices, or that you'll even be able to make tough decisions.
The facts are that both Obama and McCain have laid out their policies and views and the directions they want to take the country in. People have just been much more attracted to Obama's plans. Experience, as we define it in politics, has proved to be largely irrelevant in this election.
