Several months ago it was made book of the month by Oprah but ignore that. It's a good book about morals and it has plenty of biblical overtones within it. But, shockingly enough, it's very well done. It's long and covers a wide range of things, though the theme is fairly consistant, and probably is like 300-400 pages. However, it's one of the easier books to read. Most non-fiction books I read are about sex or publishing. Hmm.. yeah, I don't really know. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe is pretty interesting. It's about Ken Kesey (the guy who wrote One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) driving around in this bus and doing acid with his friends. You don't have to be a drug addict to read this though, it's a very good non-fiction book and is usually on top 100 lists. If you are looking for more intellectual books then I probably can't help you unless you say something specific. Like books about war, etc. |

Jeez guys, if you think a Mary Poppins book will educate me then name it, otherwise read the original post yer maroons.

It's definitly his best book, and is one hell of a good ghost story. But then, I recommend that book to everybody. I also like the book 'Carter Beats The Devil', by Glen David Gold. It's a semi-biographical, semi-fictitous story about a Vaudeville magician from the early 20th century called Charles Carter, or Carter The Great, as he was known. It's Gold's first (& only) book, and it's not very well written compared to a lot of other books I've read, but it's both interesting, and informative, and got me hooked on all things Carter, which now makes it almost impossible for me to not search for Carter the Great on eBay at least once a week.

It's a commentary on how communism is good in theory but doesn't work in practice. All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. The Da Vinci Code is a great mystery novel, it's a little suspensful and you also learn about art and Europe in the process. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | the last book I read was "A million little pieces" by James Frey. I was in the middle of it when all the controversy came out. I still read the whole book & really enjoyed. It was still a great story, even though he admits to embellishing parts of the story & I actually learned some things about AA & the 12 steps that I never knew. |
