Hobbies seem essential if you're going to waste a bunch of time during the week.. but I don't have one.
My weekends are set, I'll usually go out but I need something to do during the week or to fall back on. I used to play a lot of sports in high school but those days are gone.. maybe a pickup game once in a while is all I can look forward to.
A lot of people I know have hobbies. A girl I know races motorcross. A dude I know is in a band. Another girl I know is a dancer.
Me? I don't know.. I play video games but not much, I get bored with them. I workout at the gym but I don't make a day out of it. I could use something other than work/school.
Read a book, do something creative, learn an instrument, listen to different music, go to gigs often, try different/unique sports instead of the usual football (american and european),baseball, basketball etc. Learn how to play rugby or learn to skateboard etc. theres loads of things you can do.

And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When theres no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
I know what you mean. Besides work and my social life there isnt really anything else I do. I always wonder if this makes me sound like a really dull person.
I like things, perfect example would be cycling - but I dont think Id class it as a hobby. I dont do it often enough and have no interest in the actual bike, lol. I used to write, but thats kinda gone out the window. i just dont seem to have the time these days and then when I do, Im distracted by this place and facebook and tv. I have no will power or discipline to make myself do it anymore.

I go and watch sports. Be it football, rugby or ice hockey... whatever is on that weekend. Sometimes I go with friends, other times I go on my own - either way I usually enjoy myself, and it passes the time on weekends.
I also tie watching sports with some photography. I'm not too good at it, but it gives me something to work on if the contest is a boring one!

Re: A Hobby
I'm quite partial to a spot of origami, and I also sketch and paint, and read a lot. At uni today, I just signed up to join the archery club, and I'm going to be trying out for the American Football team, so we'll see how that goes.

With my lack of a social life, I have quite a bit of time for hobbies in between work and sleep. >_<
I play the guitar some, watch a lot of t.v., I am on WC a lot, I go to my old highschool's football/basketball games, & go walking in the woods.

I guess I'm like Danny, the biggest hobby of mine is the internet! Who would have figured...
But I like to do other things as well.
I like to read a bit. I just finished When you are engulfed in flames, by David Sedaris. I'm on to reading Infected by Scott Sigler now.
I like to bike quite a bit too, but it's getting cold, so I've started running at the YMCA now. Running sucks though, so I haven't done that nearly as much as I would bike.
I like to shop too. I don't buy stuff, but I just like to go to the stores and check out what new products they have. I'm constantly making home improvements, whether it be lighting, my deck, crap in the basement ... etc, I'm always searching for that "final touch." I also like buying electronics. I have the most complex home network setup, consisting of 3 wireless routers, 2 switches, and a hardware firewall simply because I can. Dicking around with it is kind of what makes me happy. Sadly most of it is outdated, so while it's complex, it's not very fast.
