| lol My reference to that verse has nothing to do with me accepting that something won't help me because I don't believe in it.. of I course I wouldn't expect something to help me if I didn't believe it existed. I don't believe a God exists... I don't pretend like I know the answers to everything that can't be explained/hasn't yet been explained by science and seek refuge in this primitive reasoning that God was behind it.
I used that verse as an example to why Dakstang would believe he's superior.. his teachings tell him that I'm going to be punished after death (you think condemnation simply means not helped?). We could argue our different interpretations of those words all day.. but that verse has actually been cited by priests as a reason to torture non believers in past times (im serious look it up) so obviously religious people have thought the verse to mean more than simply God won't help you. But I've strayed away from my original point here.. if something teaches that someone who believes one thing will be saved blah blah blah and that someone who believes something else will be punished then you're creating this level of superiority among people in the eyes of religious people. Christians might not go around openly proclaiming they're better than others that aren't Christians but deep down they believe they're on the only truely right path in life.. and that others are dwindling in sin. Obviously I believe thats all nonsense but someone like Dakstang wouldn't. |
None of that means that we are superior. I don't know how you get that.
You are grouping all Christians into the bad acts of a few. Not all Christians are like that. You are going to have some bad apples in every bunch and the people who act like that are not true Christians in the first place. They just claim to be.
Real Christians have discovered the right path and want to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. We have all sinned and therefore fall short of the grace of God. Jesus was sacrificed as part of God's plan so that EVERY man, woman, or child may be set free. There has to be an element of free will though. Man was created different than other animals. Animals operate on instinct alone. They don't make choices because they have no free will. Man has free will and therefore has the option of choosing the right or wrong path.
Believe me, true Christians don't feel superior to non-believers. They just want them to be able to experience a relationship with God just as they do. They want them to know the good news. The good news is that we have a choice. How we live our life determines what happens when we die. If one does not choose the right choice there will be consequences.
