And nobody meddle with this, this time. It took me a half a damn hour to come up with that poll to find out it got canceled.
Thank you for not meddling this time!
I personally think we should focus on Crime and punitive reform right now, but everyone is all crazy crazy about the economy. I think the next big topic will be Environment.

i'm not meddling but i'm certainly interested in finding out why you think that crime would be the most difficult issue facing this country.
i think they've got everyone so afraid of terrorism that we've literally sold our soul to the devil in that name. we've knowingly and willingly given up civil liberties in the name of al qaeda. now our economy is so bad that we're staring down the neck of another depression. our legislators signed off on a bail out bill that does nothing for americans but buy off bad bank debt and make provisions for toy arrow makers and puerto rican rum importers.
so i guess i'm a lil stumped as to why you believe crime is our toughest issue.

For the record we don't "meddle" with threads.
If you have an issues with threads and their editing and need to know why I would suggest PM'ing staff or an admin.
Posting it like this is not helpful for anyone other then to let you vent which is what we have the Dungeon forum for.

Global warming is acknowledged by pretty much the whole scientific community. It's the cause, and to what degree we should be alarmed, that is still in dispute.
To be fair, though, he also includes energy as part of the Environment option in his poll. That by itself is an enormous issue because most of our energy infrastructure is built around the consumption of non-renewable resources. In short, if we use all our fuel then we're screwed unless we have a credible plan to replace our current fuel with something renewable. We don't, so that's a pretty big issue imo.

Well he's more then a dumbass. Soon, we're gonna use fluorescent light bulbs, which is appalling, and we're gonna have to reduce energy on everything, because the scientific community think it's causing the Earth to get warmer. The scientists are wrong and they're the problem. If we were to get rid of electricity right now, we've been living in the dark ages. Reducing energy is not gonna make the Earth more cooler.

Like I said before, this is still up for debate in the scientific world. Right now it's a political position and basically whichever side of the debate can pay their scientists to talk louder has the upper hand on it.
The answer to the problem isn't reducing energy or using fluorescent bulbs or caulking your windows. It's about making the electric infrastructure run off something renewable, not coal and not oil. The grid I'm connected to is run off of hydroelectric power. That's a good example.
I think we've only scratched the surface on solar/wind/hydro energy. The problem is that there's no money to be made in renewable resources by definition. Scarcity = profits and there's no scarcity of wind, sun, or water.
Re: What's the biggest problem the country is facing
I don't understand why using less energy is a bad thing for you Doom...like think about it you spend less energy you save money is that not a good thing. You find renewable resources that can make a car run, you lose dependance on oil from foreign countries, keep the jobs at home and if it's renewable you won't pay that much for it, saves you money.
Helping the enviroment will give you more money back in the longrun, it's much like education; you pay for it through your taxes but you aren't going to argue you are not better off because of it.
