Not what I meant by minority.

I meant that on fundamental issues, I don't fluctuate based on bullshit bribes and compromises which politicians often propose, unlike most of the country (unlike most = minority, rit?).

As I explained before, I don't identify with either political party, or any other party (independent party included) either, so your citation of the U.S. being more divided really serves no pertinence in your frank dismissal of my response.

No, you shouldn't have to guess anything, seeing as how I explained myself fairly clearly. My response to this thread's prompt had nothing to do with how people in my town vote. If you can't tell yet, I'm trying to downplay the significance you placed on American political parties, because it truly has no bearing in my case.
Apart from that the whole bearing of the thread was about voting for a party. Now that you've clarified your original point, I understand what you meant, but you can't criticise me for responding to your post when I didn't understand your original intentions. Instead, you made a flippant comment intended to make me look like a fool.

Re: The three key manifesto points

Well for me I can't vote conservative based on economics principles, I don't believe in the laissez-faire system of governmance, it's what fucked over you guys down south and if our conservative Prime Minister gets a majority government we will be even more fucked than you guys. (Imagine if Bush controlled Congress and the Senate and the entire party had to vote along the lines he wanted, that's the power a majority Prime Minister has in Canada).

Plus our conservatives have no enviromental platform at all, where as the Liberals do, called the "green shift" basically it's a tax what you burn not what you earn. And what I also found was the candidate in my riding is using re-usable bags as his signs on people's lawns, so even after the election they don't just get tossed.

"voting for a party" is what's ambiguous here. The thread is about how we individually would vote in certain circumstances, not how the majority votes in the towns we live in.

?? That was never my intention. There was clearly some confusion and/or a false assumption on your part regarding the significance of partisanship and how it related to my response. All I did was clarify my own stance, and the foundation behind it, so that I'm not misrepresented. I'm not criticizing you for misunderstanding, I simply pointed out that you did misunderstand...

You made a generalization about Americans, assuming that because I am one, that my response to the prompt must have been a result of the political divide here. I'm simply saying that that isn't the case with me. I had absolutely no intention of making you look foolish. It's not my fault your assumption was wrong.

Man, at this point in the Canadian election, I'd do exactly the same.
Agreed.

I was really struggling with who I was going to vote for, but then Stephane Dion hugged me last weekend, and I'm pretty sure I'm voting Liberal now as a result.

Re: The three key manifesto points

I love Dion, everyone is a liberal supporter have just forgotten what it's like not to have a very brash eccentric leader.

For the last 40 years basically we had Trudeau and Chretien like seriously two awesome PM's who were just so out there.

But people forget them before those two we had one of the greatest men to ever live in Lester B. Pearson and he was by no means a loud eccentric frenchy, in fact he's a lot like Dion an egghead whose intelligence puts us all to shame.

Over here, in jolly ol' England, our Conservative party have pledged to freeze council tax for two years if they win the next general election.

To many people this could be a significant vote decider/changer.

Question here is, purely for selfish reasons, what three things could a political party add to their manifesto that would convince you to vote for them....particularly if it's a party that you fundamentally would not ordinarily vote for?
This is wicked easy.

- Legalize marijuana
