Now I don't consider myself the Prince of Fashion, but I was having a discussion with a coworker today after watching a guy walk down the aisle wearing....a bright yellow shirt.

We got into the discussion is yellow was okay for a man to wear. I took the "negatory" side, as it's just too damn bright a color. In addition, I won't wear pink either. Purple, same thing. I think there are some colors that some guys just shouldn't wear.


So come on, fashion gurus of the WC. Tell me if there's a particular color that looks bad on a guy. Or perhaps a style. Maybe horizontal stripes? Jean shorts? Grab a cosmopolitan and give me your fashion woes.

I refused to wear pink or purple when they were fashionable three or four years ago. I have a golf-style shirt that has yellow stripes, but the yellow's not that bright and doesn't encompass the whole shirt

Jean shorts are a pretty big no-no. Unless they're really baggy and go way below the knees. And you're black or Latino

I also hate when I see guys with popped collars. So much so in fact, that I started yelling at some random guy on the street at 4 am on Saturday night for having a popped collar. I believe what I said was "It wasn't even cool when all these other herbs thought it was cool, and it's DEFINITELY not cool any more". I think I also said something along the lines of "Have fun raping the girl you just picked up off the street who was puking into her bag!"

So I guess by your assessment, LSU and Minnesota Vikings fans who wear nothing but purple and yellow must be pretty homo...

I honestly don't see how colors ever became associated with gender. Why do baby boys get wrapped in blue blankets and baby girls bet wrapped in pink blankets? It's as if we're institutionalized literally since birth!

It's also a double standard somewhat, because no one thinks any differently of women who wear blue, or other dark colors, but that guy wearing pink and yellow must be uber ghey.

I say people should be able to wear whatever colors they want without any assumptions being made about their masculinity. Personally, I wear mostly black and red, but that's just my preference. I'd have no reserves over wearing pink or yellow, other than that I genuinely don't like the colors.

...would you care to explain what the implication was there? You clearly were not just saying that you don't like the color personally. Why on earth would there be certain colors that "guys just shouldn't wear"? Why is it never okay for a man to wear yellow, as you said?

If not for drawing a conclusion about their masculinity, why is it that guys can't wear these colors?
