So a few years ago, I dated this girl a few times and never called her back. No big deal. Shit happens.

UNTIL about a month ago, when she moved into the apartment DIRECTLY beneath my current girlfriend's. And this isn't even a building, with like an elevator or anything -- it's a walk-up, so I walk past her three huge windows every time I go see my girlfriend.

And it gets tricker still -- as in, neither of them knows I know, and now they're getting to be FRIENDS. See, I first saw the "ex" through one of her three huge windows and thought, 'Wow that looks exactly like (ex's name)'. Then, my girlfriend began talking about her new friend downstairs, who indeed has the same name as the ex and goes to the same school, which all but confirms it. But I couldn't really say anything about it...

And THEN, last night, I'm in my girlfriend's apartment while she's down taking out the trash, and she comes back in and says, "(Ex's name) invited us down for fresh banana bread!" Now, anyone who knows me knows I love banana bread, so I'm struggling hard to come up with an excuse here, but finally my girlfriend leaves me alone and goes downstairs by herself. Of course, later, she comes back with a few slices for me, leftovers, which I can't turn down.

AND NOW I'M EATING THE GIRL'S FUCKING BANANA BREAD!

By the way, for anyone wondering, I live in a city of about 80,000, with a metropolitan area of about 330,000 -- so it's not like this isn't a huge fucking coincidence.

aha.. well, that sounds horrible. But what's the worst case scenario? If she tells your girl some bollocks, claim it's all a lie. That's what I'd do. I'd say that "yeah, we dated but it was definitely a mutual end"

If it comes to it, you could say she's a stalker. You split up by mutual consent but she kept calling you & would show up wherever you went. Thats why she moved in near your GF.

I'm about 98% sure this other girl has no idea I'm in the picture, or that I'm upstairs. If she were to find out, she could probably convince my current girlfriend that I acted like a jerk, but I was 18 then -- I don't think anything truly bad can come of this.

It's just awkward as hell, biding my time before one of them finds out, sneaking past the three huge windows my hand over my face.

I would say it would be the best to be truthful with your girlfriend now. If she finds out that you knew and had not been telling her it will be worse. Just tell her what happened. It shouldn't be that big of a deal.
