Tell her what? That I spied this chick through her window and deduced that it must be her?

The way I see it, these are the scenarios: either they'll figure it out together (which I'm not so worried about, since the ex can't make me look THAT bad), or I'll bump into the ex somewhere outside the building and then I can tell my girlfriend. Mainly, I just don't want them to become friends.

Tell her that you suspect this was a girl you once went out with and you wanted her to hear it from you before she heard it from her. Explain what happened and that is it.

Those are my thoughts.

I'm in agreement with Dakstang. I'd say to your girlfriend that you've saw this chick walking into the apartment block a couple of times and are nearly certain she's an ex of yours. Tell your current girlfriend that it ended on a rather awkward note, namely that your ex didn't want to split but you did or something and so you'd rather avoid her at all costs. And perhaps even you girlfriend will avoid her then too.

Sounds like you weren't very serious w/ the ex (only a few dates and then ended). I say play dumb. Definitely don't tell your girlfriend that you were looking into another girl's window - very very bad. If you see her outside, then you can tell your girlfriend that you saw her. But don't make up lies that you saw her outside.
Saying you were looking in her apartment thru the windows will get you in trouble, lying that you saw here outside when you didn't could get you in trouble. Play dumb and let it go until you're forced to talk.

Also, take out the garbage for your girlfriend.
