| Beware of Airbag Deployment So what's the worst car accident you've ever been in? How bad was it: just a small dinger, or did airbags deploy and your car have to be towed away? What about the first time you got into an accident...how freaked out were you? I remember mine, I backed into a guy in a parking lot. He was screaming at me, but the funny thing was that his car was a piece of crap, while mine was a brand new truck. I remember my buddy sitting in the passenger seat telling him to calm down, and meanwhile he's leaning into MY side of the truck yelling back at him. I thought I was going to die that day. I called my work in a frantic telling them I wouldn't be coming to work that day. Looking back, it was no big deal, we were going to exchange information, but he said screw it and just drove off. After thinking about it a few hours after the accident, the prick probably didn't have any insurance or probably no license either. Which is why he didn't want the cops called. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment The worst accident I was ever when was when I totalled a Ford Mustang. It was about midnight and apparently I feel asleep. At a curve in the road I went straight and hit the guard rail which immediately woke me up, I overcompensated crossed the road and hit the guard rail on the other side of the road and the air bags deployed. That is not fun at all. Some sort of powdery stuff comes out of them and it smells awful. My poor Mustang....it is still sitting in my yard waiting to be fixed 4 years after the accident. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment Haha..sorry Dak, but: "You know you're from the south when you have an old, beat up car sitting in your LAWN." Anyway, I've heard that the stuff that comes out of airbags smells awful, and one day in tenth grade auto shop, I got to find out for sure. We deployed an airbag in a small, sealed room with all us students in there. Needless to say, we quickly opened the door and go the heck out of there after the smell got to us. I haven't had any bad accidents, luckily. All of mine have been minor fender-benders. Although, I was coming home from work one night (around 3am..was working afternoon shift at the time) in the middle of a horrible snowstorm. Coming around a bend on the freeway, and hit some black ice. I did about 4 full 360's and landed in the ditch off to the side of the road. Both my front tires were blown, and luckily someone nice in a dodge RAM pulled me out of a ditch and I just rode the extra mile home with bad tires. I was tired, it was late, and a tow truck wasn't coming for another hour, so I said screw that. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment I've had a couple near accidents while driving. But I have been in a couple as a passenger. The worst one was when a buddy of mine had shit breaks on a rainy day and we slid and bumped the car in front of us. Not slammed, but still enough to get out and do the insurance thing. The worst part was that there was a baby in the car in front of us. A girl immediately jumped out and yelled at us, what the fuck? There is a baby in here. As if had we known about the baby we would have used the magical baby breaks to avoid the collision. The baby was fine. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment Zar, they should've had one of those cute, fabulous "Baby on Board" signs. Then you would've not purposefully hit her. Shame on her. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment Well, I have never been in an accident driving, but I was in a bad one with a friend... sort of. It looked far worse than it really was. So my friend Bill had just bought a Pontiac Grand Prix and he wanted to test out the wider is better marketing. He took a corner at 60, slid off the road, spun back across the road, and flipped into a tree. I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow we flipped and landed right next to the tree. The tire marks stop like 3 feet in front of the tree. I think we were pretty lucky, especially me since it would've been the passenger side going right into the tree. Anyhow, my one friend Mark flew out the back window. He said he just kind of tucked and rolled. He got pretty beat up. My only complaint was because we landed upside down, I hit my head on the ceiling when I released my seat belt. I cut my hand crawling out the back window too. Then the cops accused of being drunk. And finally, because we had only made it like a mile from my friends house, we just walked home. His parents (Mark's) were like, "uhhh where's the car?!" We explained, his mom didn't believe us, so we showed her. And she freaked. And I laughed. | |||||||||||||||

I used to have people cut me off in traffic and yell curses with my daughter in the car. I'm pretty positive since I put one of those up people think twice before yelling something at me on the road.

No baby on board sign = yell, curse, do what you please. Baby on board sign = leave them be. Why can't we always just be nice to eachother? Group hug?

| Re: Beware of Airbag Deployment I just had an accident on monday as well. It wasn't that bad though. Some guy was in front of me and we were approaching a yield sign. He slowed down then sped up so I thought he had went on. I looked to the side to see if I could go and the guy in front of me had stopped. I couldn't get the car stopped in time so I bumped him. It is considered my fault but I say it is his fault because he sped up like he was going to go and then stopped again when he had plenty of room to go ahead and merge. | |||||||||||||||
