Rep Power: 7 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wisconson Teacher killed by student John Klang, the Wisconsin principal who was shot by a student, died at 3:30 Friday afternoon from his injuries. The 49-year-old had been in critical condition after being shot in the head, chest and leg by a 15-year-old student just after 8 a.m. at Weston High School outside Cazenovia. He had been flown to UW Hospitals in Madison where he undergone surgery. Sauk County sheriff's officials say the 15-year-old shot the principal several times with a handgun he had tucked in his pants. The teenager accused of shooting Klang to death Friday morning is quoted in a criminal complaint as saying he had been teased and called names and he felt school personal wouldn't do anything about it. The criminal complaint charges 15-year-old Eric Hainstock with first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting of Principal John Klang at Weston School in Cazenovia. Authorities say he entered the school and was confronted by a custodian who took away a shotgun he was carrying, but he took out a pistol and shot the principal before being subdued. The complaint says Hainstock had received a disciplinary warning from the principal on Thursday for having tobacco on school grounds. The complaint says he was likely facing an in-house suspension, requiring that he be under supervision at school but not go to regular classes. According to the complaint, Hainstock had told a friend the principal would not "make it through homecoming." Hainstock told investigators a group of kids had teased him by calling him "fag" and "faggot" and rubbing up against him, and he decided to confront students, teachers and the principal with the guns to make them listen to him. The complaint says he pried open his family's gun cabinet, took out a shotgun and then took a handgun from his parent's bedroom. The complaint also says he shot the principal intentionally three times. The custodian who took a gun away from Hainstock says the boy entered the school on a mission to kill someone. Dave Thompson says he saw the teen coming across the parking lot armed with a shotgun and ran to the entrance of Weston High School to intercept him. Thompson says the boy was already inside when he and another teacher, Chuck Keller, confronted him. He says the Hainstock pointed the shotgun at Keller's face and told him he was going to kill someone. The custodian says that's when he grabbed the barrel of the shotgun, swung the boy around and disarmed him. Hainstock then began digging in his pockets, so Thompson thought he had another gun and screamed at Keller to run. Thompson says Keller ducked into an office and he ran outside, re-entering the building through another door to call 911. Still hanging on to the shotgun, Thompson says he found one shell in the chamber and three others in the magazine. This was not the school's only tragedy on Friday. Shortly before the student walked into Weston High School and shot Klang, another student died in a car crash. Sheriff's authorities say the crash that killed the 16-year-old student was unrelated to the shooting. Sheriff Randy Stammen says a deputy on patrol was trying to catch up with vehicle to pull it over for a speeding violation several miles from the school. But, the vehicle crashed, killing the driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt. The sheriff's department says a passenger in the vehicle who was wearing a seat belt was not seriously injured. It was about 8 a.m., the same time the student walked into the school with a gun. Sophomore Shelly Rupp said she heard five shots and ran out of the school, but turned around and saw Klang as he was shot. "He was lying on the ground in the hallway," the 16-year-old said at a nearby gas station, where students and townspeople gathered following the shooting. "He had just a pile of blood by his leg." Middle and elementary students were sent home, although some students remained at the school as part of the sheriff department's investigation, Nigh said. Rupp said the shooter was "just weird in the head." "He always used to kid around about bringing things to school and hurting kids," she said. The shooting took place two days after a gunman took six students hostage in a Colorado high school and killed one before shooting himself. Weston Schools is about three miles south of Cazenovia, a community of about 300 people about 60 miles northwest of Madison. The small school has no metal detectors, Nigh said. "I don't think there was any way of predicting this," Nigh said. "I really don't." Rupp said the 49-year-old Klang was a good principal and always listened to his students. He was beginning his third year on the job. Resident Laurie Rhea, 42, said Klang had spent last weekend at the gas station washing cars for a homecoming fundraiser. "It's horrible. All the kids just loved him," she said. The shooting happened as the school was preparing for homecoming weekend. Nigh said all homecoming activities, including a parade, a football game and dance, have been postponed. Source: kare11 This kid has problems, who the fuck shoots there teacher.
