Bridgend Suicides: Another Body Found |Sky News|UK News

Above are links to two stories, morbidly fascinating stories, revolving around the huge increase in suicides pertaining to young people living in and around the Bridgend area of Wales.

Such terrible wastes of human life (the first seven actually knew each other).

The Police are denying now that there is any "cult" or "internet" connection between these people and that it is at least partly now the blame of the media. I guess for putting the idea in the minds of these young people? I don't know.

Anybody else have opinions on this?

Have such matters befallen towns in the US in similar ways?

Can it be true that all these poor young people were forcibly shown an episode of TNA Impact?

It actually reminds me of some of these American films(cherry affls is the name of one), it cant be a mere coincience that so many young people from the same area have tragically took their own lives over a short space of time.

It’s really a weird and scary chain of events that are happening down the road in Bridgend. I personally have no idea what’s going on, and I wouldn’t even begin to speculate as to whether they are all connected or not.

I do actually agree with the parents and the police who say the media are sensationalising this whole episode. Yes we need to be aware that these events are happening, but by broadcasting them in the way that they are, it’s giving teenagers who are ‘close to the edge’ the impression that this is a “normal” thing to do. In turn they’ll see that taking their own lives is something that happens to a lot of people, when in reality it’s not.

I feel Bridgend County Council now need to make it a priority to get councillors into all the schools and make them available to anyone to speak to, and in the strictest of confidence. Help needs to be made available to these teenagers. We all know form our own experiences and we won’t go and seek help if we don’t have a clue where to look. Make help available and I’m positive events like these will not happen so frequently.

I agree with that completely.

I can't even imagine what would cause someone to even contemplate suicide.
