Re: Another Bad Experience With A Cop

Dak, basically what you are saying is that you decided to break the law because you knew how he would react? Do you not see that that's wrong? Granted, the officer shouldn't have made it like he was going to write you up, but if he'd have let you carry on driving after speeding, it would have been irresponsible.

I'll admit that he should just have pulled you over and said "Look, I can't write you up or anything, but just try to drive a little more carefully" but the bottom line is that you broke the law.

The point is that he had no right to pull me over what so ever. Not for a minor traffic violation that occurred out of his jurisdiction.

He went beyond his authority.

If he was out of his jurisdiction and saw an armed robbery taking place he would be obligated to do something about that and it would be well within his authority. The rule is not the same for a minor traffic offense.

That's so hypocritical. Both are against the law.

You broke the law. Get over it.

One is an immediate threat to the public.

The other is a minor traffiic violation.

Why don't we give all Cops as much authority as an FBI agent and let them have jurisdiction anywere in the United States? And while were at it we might as well throw out the Consitution. They could arrest a lot more people that way. That would allow a policeman to do what ever they want to do.

Why not do this? Because then we would have no rights as citizens.

This is what the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are for people. Maybe you should try reading them.

Lets look at the some facts...

There were an estimated 6,289,000 car accidents in 1999. Out of that, there are 3,400,000 injuries, and 41,511 people killed. There's reason to cite the cause of the accidents - we all know speeding, and distractions are the main cause of them.

In that same year, there were only 15,517 people murdered throughout the United States.

Who is the greater risk to the fellow man? You.

Facts don't lie, darling.

Re: Another Bad Experience With A Cop

Speeders are an immediate threat to the public.

I almost got run over crossing the street today with one of my daughters by someone speeding.

I yelled at him to slow down and guess what he replied?

"I'm not hurting anyone!"

I had to check to make sure it wasn't you Dak. lol

and I'm not kidding.

Not jumping on you or joining in this discussion just want people to consider the human factor before they go speeding every where or jumping on cops for trying to stop it.

A robbery is a felony by law, speeding is a misdemeanor.

The Police cannot decide which is more dangerous. They are to enforce the laws, not make them.

The Policeman violated policy, and the law by pulling me over.

That is what the issue is here.

I don't care what they're considered. I stand a much greater chance of dying because of people like you!

We've already decided that the police officer was not in the right. But neither are you, and you refuse to admit that.
