Cats tend to hide when they feel death creeping up. They don't wanna be a pain in the ass after they've passed on, since they can be such pests before hand

My cat tried to make a run for it several times in 1 week, and we always thought it was weird, but she never seemed sick. Then a week later she had a massive stroke, and we had to put her down. So maybe she felt it coming on, because she never tried to leave our property in her 18 year life, except for that last week.
I held both of my dogs and my cat as they got put down. It's hard as hell to do, but I would never let them go into the vet's office scared.

My cat dragged himself into the furthest corner of the room (his back legs gave way) to die. It was so sad, it was like he was crying.If it carried on for much longer we were gonna take him to the vets to put him out of his misery but thankfully, he went pretty soon.
He might have run, if he could, lol, he certainly went as far away as he could.
