Can Things Work Without Attraction?

So, say theres someone you get on wonderfully with. You have everything in common and have a brilliant time with every time you see them, and you can see why you should like them and wish that you did - but you dont, theres no physical chemistry.

Can a relationship still work? Would you try it and see it? Or is it just a waste of time? Do you think over time you can start to see them differently? Im just pondering tonight...

I think personality plays a huge..HUGE.. part in how attracted you are to someone. I can remember a few instances where I met someone who I wasn't exactly blown away by (looks wise) but after getting to know them; all of a sudden the deficiencies you saw in them at first disappear and the nice qualities are heightened and reinforced.

Will I ever fall in love with Star Jones? no. There has to be something I find attractive about the person to even approach them in the first place.

I agree totally and the same happens to me, someone becomes more attractive to me ther more I get to know them, regardless of their appearance. But say it doesnt, is that a friendship you have or can it be classed as a relationship?

LOL.. Well, for me it's simple. I do a lot of the same activities with my friends who are girls as I would with an actual girlfriend. The only real difference is that I don't sleep with them. That's how I differentiate

What you're describing is friendship (as Zar said).

Why would you want to develop that further? Personally, if there wasn't some physical attraction at the beginning then it wouldn't be worth pursuing.

Friendship is underrated though....just go with that!

This happened to me this week. I had been seeing a guy for a few months, and kind of liked him in the start, but it quickly wore off. He was hot, and super nice, we loved the same music, but he just had no sense of humour and it didn't work. He didn't get sarcasm, and I more or less only communicate in sarcasm.

Because he had no sense of humour, there was no spark. He was just TOO nice, and was too happy about everything. Every movie we saw was good, every song he heard on the radio he liked, he liked all of his classes, he liked every person he met, it was maddening.

I made an effort to somehow make him angry at me, to see if anything at all bothered him. I went away for 3 weeks and didn't call him. I ditched him numerous to hang out with my friends instead, and he knew I went to the bar. In the end, I made the classy decision of getting my boss to write down for me what to say, and then I dumped him. And he didn't even get mad at that. He apoligized to me for not being good enough to me. After he took me out all the time, paid for everything, was a doll in everyway.

In conclusion, I am a huge bitch. Also, you need a spark, or the relationship won't work.
